Very impatient....when is Vaja coming out with a case for this NZ90...I'm getting tired of waiting.......I'm about to revert back to my NR70V.......

Your just getting started waiting. When the Vaja case actually is released for the NZ and you put in your order, you will have to wait another month or so until you recieve it. It takes forever to produce because it is handmade. Definitely worth the wait. I love my Ivolution case for my NX

Does anyone know for sure that they (Vaja) are working on a case for the NZ?

Vaja has stated that they are working on an NZ case (anyone writing and asking about one gets an e-mail saying this...)

I saw something on their website about it too when the NZ first came out. I can't seem to find it anymore though.

The reply I got a while back from Vaja...
"Phillip,
We will be releasing a case for the Sony NZ90 in the futurem though we do
not have a fixed date at present. As soon as the new case is available we
will let you know by e-mail.
Thank you very much for your interest in our cases

Handmade? Does it's productive good enough for so many NZ90 users?

what i mean is why don't they use machine to speedup the production of 'handmade' vaja? Someone had mentioned before that by the time the case is out, our set is already being attack by tear and wear from our rough pocket or bag.

By the time it comes out, there will be a new clie model. Vaja seems to always to a model behind.
Well it seems like...

I've had Vaja cases for all of my Palms/Clies and now I just feel like I NEED the case for this one. I think they are the best available but I just wish they were faster. This thing seems to be getting scratched up and I'm tired of taking it out of the Sony pouch thing I'm using now.

For those who have looked at the vaja cases (and I currently do not have one) ... they look like the most 'professional' elegant cases around. I don't know how good they are.... as far as padding in them in case the clie hits the ground .... but they are very very nice looking.
I would have some thoughts as to why they take a bit to come out with the new line. Of course they are hand-made, and stitched and whatnot, but I would think, having done some leather work in a past life, they need to come up with all the new 'work-areas' to make the NZ Cases. This might take multiple 'stations' and different punch sets to get the to shape exactly as needed and make it fit like a glove to the NZ. It could take 3-20 stations it needs to go through to get the quality they need (for the price we are paying). This takes time and monies to get the stations set up correctly.
I'd much rather have someone make it for me, than a hunka leather ona auto-assembly line with some huge Punches making 'em. I have heard nothing but GREAT things from those who have vaja cases.
I think there is something to be said...... that they are the 'top of the food-chain' in quality for the PDA covers. Why change? I haven't seen anything better than these cases. They seem to know what they are doing and seem to be doing an awesome quality job on their products. I'm sure there are some negative reports about vaja cases, but I haven't heard anything negative about 'em at this point.
As soon as I see the vaja case for the NZ come out... you can bet your bottom Dollar/Yen/Euro/Peso..etc that I'll be a gettin a Vaja case for my NZ.

I'm just wondering, is there something similar to the 'Vaja Leather Puch for Clie Headphones' (http://www.vajacases.com/vaja/catalogo.nsf/ViewPPEN?OpenView&Cat=nr, 3rd from top) that would fit the NZ90 perfect? I am looking for something that has a horizontal arrangement (with perhaps 2 belt loops or clips) rather than vertical, similar to the http://www.nokia.com/cda13/0,1083,3068,00.html (Nokia 8200 series phones)....

I just found something from Nokia that I think could be made to work with a little alteration. It's the CSL-25 leather case that was meant for the 158x56x27 mm Nokia Communicator - sorry, I'm not good with inches. The dimensions of the NZ90 are pretty close at 142x76x23 mm. I'd say only the closing strap has to be lenghtened by 1-2 centimeters (about half an inch) and the other sides padded a bit. It only costs $19.9 at provantage.com..... what do you guys think?

Hello my friend. I really share your frustration. I have been e-mailing Vaja on a regular basis, asking why is it taking so long. Well, in my last response from them, I was told that the leather cases for the NZ90 just left the final stages of production, and will be available any time now. I'm thinking...maybe this week some time. Let's hope so anyway. I know it seems like it is taking forever, but hang in there my friend.

I think demand is a big factor. I don't know how many NZ requests they get compared to other makes and models.

Knowing vaja they will probably release the simple flip case first. It will take at least another 1-2 months for an i-volution case for the NZ.

I have only been using Vaja cases since the Visor Prism (4 so far) but got tired waiting for the NZ model. Finally I was recommended the NZ90 body glove leather case by Extreme Limit.
I wasn't expecting much as it cost half the price of my NR70 Vaja case including shipping. But when I received it, I'm knocked off my feet. Not only was the leather very supple and good quality, the stitchwork rivals the best Vaja I had! And it is so well designed and thoughtful with all buttons available without obstruction. Classy on the outside, well paded inside.
Give this a try. I know if I get the next Clie, I'll see what Extreme Limit has before visiting Vaja again. They are now my favourite case manufacturer :) There are veru good screenshots at their English site. It was SOLD OUT but is now just back in stock.
No affiliation. Just a VERY SATISFIED customer.

I was told by John H owner (I believe) of Vaja cases that he has a couple of styles done but they do not know yet which to go with. So it's just a matter of which to go with. He also said they will not be making a ivolution case for the NZ. I think it's a good choice because it would be really THICK.
I say 2 weeks tops (if not sooner) and we can order. One thing for sure is that they ARE making them.

Oh shxx!!!! If that is the case I can just get any case from other branded(no brand which is a lot cheaper too)!
If i-volution is not out for NZ, then what so great about VAJA?
What a waste of time been waiting for so long for this i volution....sigh......
Either giveup case from VAJA or giveup NZ go back to NX with I volution....Come on la, of course I will giveup VAJA without I-volution!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kensong was right, I rather get the extreme Limit at 50% of the VAJA price with better quality!!!

I have never owned an extreme case so can you tell me if they fit like a glove like the vaja? I have tried many cases and what I love best about the vaja is that when I hold them it does not feel in my hand like I have a bulk of leather wrapped around the pda. Specially the BACK of the case is important to me. Most case makers make the back so WIDE it's just plain silly. I cannot stand cases that the back is wider than the back of the pda itself. Your hand will expand when you hold the pda when it is made this way.

I need a case with a belt clip. The extreme case looks decent, but without a clip. I think I will get a case by piel frama for $60.

bad news that the ivolution won't be made, I'm going to email them to confirm, that's the only case in my opinion that sets vaja apart... otherwise, every other case makes me take my wl100 card out... forget it...

Actually, the non-Ivolution Vaja case for the NX-70 doesn't require you to take the wireless card out-- I have one and love it.
I don't see how an iVolution case could be made for the NZ-90, myself, although I wouldn't mind being proven wrong!

Guys, just get the PDair case. Its great and can hold the WL100 card in its slot. But u need to bring it to a tailor/cobbler to sew in a clip for yr beltclip.

04-13-2003, 05:27 PM
on the vaja case.. the pix i saw of the non-ivolution case showed a strap holding the unit closed, and it went across the bottom, covering the slot... can someone help correct my understanding?
dramsey
04-13-2003, 09:34 PM
The strap of the non-ivolution case does go across the botton of the unit, but you didn't see a case for the NZ, because they don't have one yet.
In other words, you saw the case for the NX, not the NZ, and it doesn't matter if the strap goes across the bottom because the CF slot is at the top of the NX.

OK, so we are HOPING that the case for the NZ avoids the slot?
I'd like to get assurances... I'll email them again...

Here is a picture of my Extreme Limit case modified by myself to include a belt clip. I used a Motorola Mobile Phoe clip which can lock my NZ in landscape or portrait position. Very secure.

Don't those zippers on the extreme limit case scratch the nz??
greg elmassian
04-15-2003, 02:04 PM
or scratch your hand or pocket? I think the zippers are way too big.... why didn't they use the nice thin black nylon ones?
Greg
EvilErnie
04-15-2003, 08:16 PM
Or some thin velcro strips, that would work. As the zips are outside, I am more concered that it would scratch my G4 titanium Powerbook, Because i put my nz in my laptop bag.

Case makers should focus on protecting whats in the case and whats outside the case. Even for my piel farma i ordered one witout a belt clip.

The Motorola Clip comes in 2 halfs and it's riveted with the leather in between the 2 halfs. I use super glue for extra strength. Very secure. The half with the round holder have got 20 pins while the flat other half have got 20 holes. I punched 20 holes right through the leather, then lines the inside with soft felt.
Looks real neat. The only giveaway is the Motorola logo ;-p

It won't scratch the NZ as there is another layer of leather behind the zipper. I did write to the makers requesting that they look into this. I would have preferred black nylon zippers that are smaller. This zippers is very sturdy though and smooth so they won't scratch your hands.
I would put this in the same compartment as my Titanium Powerbook though. I have it clipped to my belt most of the time so it works well for me.

All of us Vaja enthusiasts patiently waiting for our nz cases may finally get our wishes. I checked out Vaja's website (check below) and they have a somewhat "guarded" picture (new to my knowledge) of their flip case for the nz90. Greg, I think the picture might answer your question about the wi-fi slot.......if you look closely, you will see a strap going across the wi-fi slot flush (does not appear to be any space for wi-fi card in nz). But let's wait and see if they have anything up their sleeves for us (the pic is not that informative.......just whets our appetites is all).
