Whats a good bible reader that would allow you to read it in landscape view.

I currently have the OliveTree one.

Hello there...I have been using the Bible Thumper and love it. It however will not go landscape. The helps you can get are great, the commentaries and dictionaries are very useful. Now what do you know about getting Vines Dictionary for the palm?

You may want to try out www.olivetree.com

They have a nice reader. I like it quite a bit. There are some free bibles you can download and some you pay for. Unfortunately it doesn't seem they carry (for their reader) the New International Version (NIV).

I love their reader though... works great... I've been using it for over a year now.

I have not found a Landscape bible-reader. Otherwise...I use BibleThumper!

if you are looking for NIV you have to get mybible from Laridian Software (http://www.laridian.com). they are the only ones with the copyright agreement for NIV. mybible is a plain jane type of reader and will not go landscape, but you can set bookmarks, check out the study notes on many interpretations, and load only the books you want instead of the whole bible. you can also have as many different translations on the palm as the memory stick can hold.

one advantage i have found to using bible reader software is that it freaks out the old folks at church when i read the scripture from my nx70v, but it really helps younger folks relate since if it is computerized they feel more comfortable with it.:D

Topical Bibles, commentaries? You guys need these on the go? I'm a Bible college student doing plenty of ministry but man, i don't need that stuff on the go. I have the full Expositor's Bible Commentary's on my laptop and desktop if i need them. But i have yet to need one on the go. Only scripture references. I dunno though.

Oh, and i use Bible Reader from Asai Soft. They have NIV clearance and supports dual translation viewing at the same time!

yes these tools are quite useful in the bible readings I go to. A laptop is a bit much and bringing a libaray with you is out too, but the palm is not out of place or offensive to others. These tools are secondary to the Bible and are used as quick reference to clearify a word meaning or find a scripture someone can not remember where and so forth, really helpful...

I haven't used OliveTree with OS5, but I much prefer the look of BibleReader on my NX70 than OliveTree on my old T615. The small text (for my eyes at least) is easily read and allows for a lot more text on the screen. I don't know if OT has full-screen support but BibleReader does... Anyone have any experience in loading speed (off the memory stick) between OT, BibleThumper and BR?

My Biblethumper is in system memory and all 35MB of addons sits on my memory stick. Speed is fast on a NX70..

Here is a free reader w/ a very extensive and detailed footnote system, w/ a topical guide and bible dictionary. The reader is basically a text reader with the underlined links to the footnotes, topical guide and bible dictionary.

This is shareware so you can try it out for free, but buy it if you use it. The biblethumper has more references and features and is a high quality piece of sofware. It uses all the screen on my NX70 full screen

Are you talking about asai soft's Bible Reader? There are a few different Bible Readers out there that use the name "Bible Reader." Just curious cause i didn't think asai soft's reader supported full screen yet, but i would be thankin the Lord if it does! Could you link me to your reader that supports full screen, besides Bible Thumper, not interested in a KJV only. Thanks for the info!

I highly recommend Biblethumper. I love being able to access concordances and dictionaries anywhere. I teach adult Sunday school and it really helps having all of this info on my hip. Is it really necessary? No. But what is there about a pda that is?

Tek,
Olivetree's Bible reader uses full screen now. And you can download many different versions of the bible. I think I have about 7 or 8. Many of them are free.

I prefer asai soft's because you can have two different translations loaded at the same time split screen, that would be killer in full screen mode. I wasn't sure if quiller had heard of an update for it that i hadn't. Yeah, i'm familiar w/ Olivetree, it's pretty good stuff, but Asai soft's is my favorite.

To the original poster - THERE IS NO BIBLE READER THAT HANDLES LANDSCAPE MODE. ie. rotating the screen by 90 degress.

You may use programs/hacks to rotate the screen, but that is about it.

Denizens of this forum - I return you to the the unpaid, opinionated discussions... :)

I use MarkMyScriptures which I think is OS 5 compatible. Found at www.skimware.com I have written a review on it and it may appear in CliePlanet.

Maybe we can get reviews of all the different ones?

I downloaded the new version of Olivetree biblereader but it doesn't use the full 480 screen. it is hi res but not the full screen... someone said it did... what were they meaning??????? it is faster though.

is anyone else having the problem that using the NASB with strongs numbers, ... when the word is in the definition section at the bottom, it gives the word it was from but not the strongs number of it... like.. it doesn't give the strongs number of the root word, like it does on non-os 5 versions.... ack.. it's annoying!

I'm sorry...I said that you could use the full screen with the Biblereader. I was wrong. I was thinking about Biblethumper. I got the newest version of it a few weeks ago and it now can use the full screen. I have to look at this Asiasoft Bible reader. I like the split screen feature.

Which of these readers does Greek and Hebrew? Which lets you import additional texts you prepare yourself? Alex

SolarWind

indeed.. i really like olivetree but they need to make some major updates like making all the features available and the search not freeze your system and make the searches more intelligent and make the scrolling faster and fix the split screen strong's numbers issue. cause if you don't know the root, it makes it somewhat point less.

BibleThumper has Greek and Hebrew lexicon databases. Bible thumper also has several other databases that can be added to it. Olivetree's Biblereader has the scriptures themselves in Greek...I don't recall there being Hebrew scriptures, though.
As far as importing texts you prepare yourself, I'm not sure what you mean. With BibleThumper you can write personal notes that are stored like commentaries.

It looks like the free Bible Reader (palmbible.sourceforge.net) has Hebrew/Greek fonts and texts available for it. http://www.wjsp.net/palm_bible.html

And since it's open source, it should be possible to convert new texts to its format. (I meant by that: If I have a Bible translation they don't have, can I convert it into its format? The answer seems to be: Yes.)
