Any new LauncherX skins?

I have been waiting for some new skins to arrive but there have been no updates, even on the LX web page. I know they have posted ways to make skins but I am no programmer so I would have no idea where to start. Is it really that hard to create skins for Launcher X?

http://www.PocketPhile.com has a few new ones that I just noticed. It isn't all that easy to make skins for LX right now, because there are no set instructions for it just yet. The same goes for ZLauncher. There are a few people that use CodeWarrior or programs like it enough that they know how to compile new skins, but so far that's about the only way I know of to make them.

does not seem to be so complicated to manipulate skin files though. just open in constructor and exchange bitmaps. not comfortable though.

Constructor? Bitmaps? :confused: If I had a lot of time I could probably figure it out, but between work and family it is really hard for me to spend a lot of time on the computer without a kid in my lap wanting to play Blues Clues or Stuart Little CD-Rom games ;)

your are right with that. since i have a 1 year old daughter time is quite limited recently ;-) but regarding that stuart little cd-rom i think only way out is to give up the desktop and head for a laptop ;-)

LX skins are pretty easy to manipulate using constructor if you simply want to replace the images with different images. This is how I created my skin (posted here on Cliesource). Using one of Lubak's skins, I replaced the elements with the Mac-esque items. You are also able to increase / decrease the color depth if you wish (to a certain extent).

For complete flexibility however, you will need to understand CodeWarrior to manipulate the skin.r file. The source files for the skins can be found here (http://www.launcherx.com/skins/) as well as links to the demo version of MetroWerks CodeWarrior. The demo version works fine for creating skins BTW.

I've been working on a Mac skin with larger gadgets, but never completed it as I ran into a small issue. The size is just large enough to create a glitch on the gadget configuration screen. If I make the gadgets a bit bigger or smaller, the glitch will go away, but it kinda spoils the whole look of the skin (IMHO).

If anyone is willing to beta test, you can drop me an email and I'll be glad to send it to you. I'm kinda stuck in need of feedback before it becomes very "useful". :( (NOTE: the skin is currently only being created for Sony 4.1 devices ... other resolutions will follow after the skin is "finished")

BTW - CodeWarrior is intimidating, but with help from others, I've managed to become dangerous :cool: It's worth it to have the flexibility to change all the cool things in the LX skin structure.

Does LauncherX support background images in their Skins? Looked through their ActiveSkins code but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to put a background image in. That's the only thing that I really want from the other launchers...
