Are they Variable bit rate mp3's? I don't know if the nx series supports this, but the sj33 does not and it would make it come up with that error. To see if they are vbr's just right click on the song and go to properties, it should say so there. Hope this helps!!

One question: Can you play MP3s while running another program like Docs to Go, Bejeweled, Address Book, etc.?

To be able to run MP3 on the background, I go to AudioPlayer, Menu, Options, Preferences, and tick or check the 'Enable background play.'

Please forgive me for what I believe will be a no-brainer for the rest of you:

Is there an app for the SJ30 that will enable MP3 playing ? Can someone please point me to it ?

Thank you very much...

The SJ-30 dosen't really have any complex audio capabilities. Technically someone could write an MP3 player, and in fact you might be able to encode an MP3 track with Kimono or some video player like that, but it's effectivly worthless. The speaker is far too quiet and tinny when trying to play audio like that.

SJ-30 lacks of sound-chip (hardware issue, not software).  You need to get PEGA-SA10 Audio Adapter.  Here is the link:

 http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=wE2LZm151UqLYlPqtSOBbSJ0b0mTgkWQsf0=?CatalogCategoryID=%2esIKC0%2eN6EsAAAD06yg6ymyy&ProductID=pncKC0%2eN%2elUAAAD0UD46ymy2&Dept=acc

It has the needed sound chip, phone jack, and headphone. Sony sells it for $100.

My N760C comes with the sound-chip built-in in the Clie but separately from the CPU. That is why you can listen MP3 in the background while you are in an app or while putting the CPU to sleep (hold) to save battery.  Supposedly it can run MP3 for 11 hours this way.  I have run it for 3 hours continuously with only 10% drop in battery capacity, not bad.

Thank you very much, Puppy & DanT, for your input.
