I really love this machine and am very sad. I'm not sure what the issue is. It was working one minute, and now it won't turn on at all. I put it on the charge and it's not taking a charge. I've tried soft, warm, and hard resets and nothing. I wish I could at least hard reset because everything is backed up on my memory stick with backup buddy.
Any thoughts, please post, otherwise, I'm moving on to a T5.

This is a known issue of the UX series. The solution first of all if you still have a warranty is to send it to SONY. When it happened to me, they replaced the mother board. If you don't have any warranty left, you can drain the battery by just letting it sit on your table for about 2 weeks and wait for the battery to completely drain. Take note that it has to be COMPLETELY DRAINED, otherwise it won't charge. Your second option if you don't have any warranty is to open up the UX by taking off the four 5-star screws at the bottom and manually disconnecting the battery. After disconnecting it for about a minute, you can now hook it back up. The UX would veiw this as a complete battery drain. Thus it would light-up upon charge.
You can see other post regarding this topic if you search the UX threads. Search for: SUDDEN CLIE DEATH SYNDROME
If you need instructions on how to open up your UX. Search for Smeggie's thread: UX Meltdown
Good Luck!

If you can't send it back to Sony-baloney, this is a good second option. It's not as hard as it may sound.

My clie died last night. Fortunately died with a "Reset" screen.
Could not soft or hard reset, charge or anything else.
However, I remembered about reading in this forum about leaving the battery to completely drain, or unscrewing it and disconnecting the battery. As I has something on screen and the inevitable UX50 poor battery life, I decided to try the former action first and left it overnight. This morning I placed the UX50 back in its cradle and BINGO - everything reset to day 1.
Not a problem - quick restore from built in application and everything is back to normal.
Therefore just drain the battery completely first. No need to open her up and risk invalidating your warranty.
One question though - should you leave the battery to charge for 4 hours like you do when you first turn it on?

Yes, charge it till full, if you noticed the orange charging light to be off which indicates a full charge, dislodged the UX from the cradle and let the orange charging light come-on again by placing it back on the cradle.
Yes, discharging the battery to completely zero works. I did that too. But this problem is recurrent on my unit. It happened to me again after 2 months. And again... and again... and again...
Finally I gave up... sent it to SONY. They replaced the entire motherboard. So if I were you, I would have opted to send it to SONY for the repair since you still have the warranty. Now you have a dilemma, because if you send it to SONY now that it is working fine. They might not repair anything and insists that it works fine. Just like what happened to my UX40 which had the same problem. It took them about a week before they got to my UX40. Of copurse it now works fine because the battery drained by itself and they refused any repairs on it. I got the "nastiest unprofessional technician" too. :(
