View Full Version : What app would you use the Landscape hack besides NetFront?
I am just curious as I see no need to read in landscape in anything else -- it is faster to read in Portrait anyway and is much more comfortable to hold the unit in your hand. We have discussed this in the past, but I just thought that maybe someone has found new uses for the hack.

Hmm, Avantgo, ZLauncher, TCPMP, Media Launcher, Clie Viewer, Resco Viewer, Bejeweled 2, Zuma, Bike or Die.
Doesn't "TCPMP" have that option built-in? And why not use a better photo viewer than Clie Viewer such as Resco? Oh, just saw that you are already using it! :D
I thought Resco Viewer already allows you to view stuff in landscape?

It makes landscape switching alot faster in these two apps. You just hit the status bar, and your done. If you dont have landscape, you have to enter prefs, and reset the oritentation whenever you want to change it. With Landscape, you just say "follow GUI", and you can switch on the fly. The same for Rescoviewer.

At the top of my head. AcidImage, AcidSolitaire, AcidFreecell, AcidSpider, NetFront, ClieMail, ClieFiles and Picselviewer.

Besides NetFront, I use it all the time with my "Office" apps: MobiSystem, DTG, etc. It's awesome using my IR keyboard to type up a document while in Landscape!!

Go to the Sony website, and download the newest version of Cliefiles. It should be on the TH page if it isnt on the NX page. It allows ZIP decompression too.

Docs2Go's spreadsheets are much more readable in Landscape.

Thanks JJ, hoped it wasn't a th55 PalmOS5.21 bonus, I purchased a wi-fi card for my clie nearly a year ago and used the updated clie files back then to handle zips I'd downloaded. Guess after a few hard resets it has been neglected but landscape cliefiles will motivate me!

Resco Explorer has an interface similar to Windows Explorer, with a tree view of the directories on the left and up to 7 columns of file information on the right. In portrait I can get a resonably wide tree and maybe 2 or 3 columns of *readable* file info. In landscape I can get 4 or maybe 5 readable columns on the left while keeping the tree visible.

I do a lot of writing on my Sony Clie TH55, using WordSmith and a Palm infrared keyboard; I find it a lot more pleasant working in landscape mode, plus, when writing on a plane, this lets me place the Clie horizontally, rather than vertically, making it less prone to being squished when the guy seated in front of me suddenly leans his chair back. :)
