Hi,

I'm new to this.
Just got the nz100 yesterday.
Having a lot of trouble with the cradle.
Try to be gentle when I touch it but it comes unplugged from the cradle. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Does anyone have any idea on how to configure the WL100 card
with a belkin wireless. It works fine with my computer but not having any luck with the nz100. I'm sure its because I'm doing something wrong in the setup.
Thanks,

Terry

I just installed my Wi-Fi card to work with my Belkin wireless network yesterday. First, make sure you have installed the NetFront program to your PDA, (you can find it on the Sony installation CD that came with your PDA.) Then, install the CD that came with the Wi-Fi card. Go to the "Preferences" screen of your PDA and click on the "network" preferences. On the top of that screen, it will say "Service:" Click on the arrow next to it and highlight "Wireless LAN." Next, tap on the "details" bottom on the lower left hand corner of the screen. Where it says "Network ID", type in the word "any" without the quotation marks. For the WEP setting, leave it at "none." Now, click on the "Advanced Setup" botton on the lower right hand corner, make sure IP Address and DNS Address are checked for the Auto setting, and uncheck the PowerSaverMode box. From there, you should be go to go! Go back to your NetFront icon and just click on it to connect to the internet, Good luck to you!

PS- sorry about the typos above. My 3 year old triplet boys were climbing on me as I was trying to type...

Still having trouble hooking up.
Thank you very much!

Hmmmm....you might want to check out the Wireless forum here, (that is where I learned how to configure my Wi-Fi card.) Someone there could probably give you more help than I could.

Only the Sony cards WL100 and WL110 will work, although the WL110 was just approved by the FCC today.

Your are going to have to supply us with more information!

What model wireless AP or router?
What PC operting system and computer(laptop or desktop)?
How do you connect to the internet and who is your ISP?

There is alot to this stuff and many different scenarios;)!

There is another thread on this too:

One day, I have to redo this, please pardon if it appears to be a bit convoluted.

Wireless HotSync Info
Listed below are some common problems and highlights:

(combined for future reference)

The primary pc name has to be !!(double exclamation points) only!

Only works with the long preamble.

The Sony PEGA-WL100 is the ONLY card that works!

Use static/manual settings for IP and DNS addresses

Leave power save unchecked

Use infrastructure mode when on a LAN, even for the wireless HotSync

May not necessarily work on all Wireless Access Points, does work with Linksys, Dlink, Apple's Airport, and some others.

You can use an SSID of ANY.

Windows XP firewall can block a wireless HotSync.

First step is to get to connect with the LAN, then try to get the WAN side to work(gateway and DNS addressing)

Right click on the HotSync Manager Icon in the PC's system tray and select network as a valid HotSync method in addition to Local USB.

Lots of patience...

The following info was supplied by Xaositek:

network = ; wireless lan
go to details
if you haven't added a profile do so now.

ProfileName: (whatever)
Network ID (SSID): Any (case sensitive)

Go to advanced setup and turn off "PowerSaveMode""

Go to your hotsync program
go to menu
"Modem Sync"
set to "Network"
under LANSync, make sure its set to LANSync

Primary PC Setup
Primary PC Name: !! ;-- another must have this way
Primary PC Address: (the IP address of the computer to hotsync too)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 (unless different from Admin)

Click ok

Go to the main hotsync screen
Click on the "Modem" box
then choice your network as "Wireless LAN"
DO NOT ENTER A PHONE NUMBER

Larry,

Thanks for taking the time to explain the WL100 card setup.
Its working fine now.
I'm impressed on the quality of the web pages and graphics.
I'm glad there's people with knowledge that's willing to take the time and share with the rest of us.
Thanks again,

Terry

Just browsing the Clie' support site and found a Mobile Connection Wizard. It is supposed to simplify setting up Bluetooth and Wireless communication. Haven't tried it, just getting ready to download to review.
