My UX50 has recently started some disturbing behavior. When I eject the memory stick, the UX50 pauses and then displays a soft reset screen. This happens almost all of the time. If I eject the memory stick when the power is turned off and then insert a new memory stick before turning on the power, the UX50 will not turn on. After a soft reset, the power comes on just fine. I'm using ZLauncher 5.20.

Do you have the updated memorystick driver on your handheld. You should be able to get it off of Sonys site. Its worth a try, and if that doesnt work, do a hard reset.

I tried installing the updated memory stick driver (v1.02?) just before I posted my message. No luck. I did a hard reset a few days ago. No luck. Any other thoughts?

Maybe it's the card? Try copying all the stuff on your MemoryStick onto a PC, format the MemoryStick using Card Info, then drop all your stuff back on it. This fixed my problem where Data Import will cause OS X to lock up, and Windows XP to blue-screen. It was safe to say the card was pretty corrupt. A clean format fixed it right up.
If that doesn't help, try a different card altogather?

Behaving badly huh? Well, honestly, a nice slappin' in the butt usually gets kids in line...should work with the UX.

I´ve got the same problem a few weeks ago..first backup your MS, then format the MS and remove it. Make a hard reset.
My problems with the Clie and the MS were solved with this method
Good luck

Do you run Zlauncher on your UX? If so are you using the Alias Extension folder on the MS? That has been known to cause problems with Data Import and may also cause probs like you are mentioning. The solution is to use Alias Extension folkder only on internal memory and use Zlauncher/Apps on the MS.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I decided to try things on an incremental basis. I copied all of the data from the MS to my computer. Then I reformatted the MS. Then I copied (almost) everything back to the MS. No reset needed and everything seems to be working fine!

Bad news and good news. I spoke too soon earlier when I said that everything was working. I mistakenly copied the Launcher directory to the wrong place on the re-formatted MS. When I moved the Launcher directory, the error returned. So I realized that there was a problem with a file in that directory. Long story short...I figured out that I had a file in the Launcher directory that had a quick button on ZLauncher's bottom button bar. As soon as I deleted that button, the error appears to have stopped.
The moral of the story: Don't have a button on ZLauncher's button bars point to an application on a MS!

I use Zlauncher too so that's good information to know. Thanks for sharing it.
