i have some questions. i was looking at buying a semsons battery extender and possibly some other things there. they sell a stylus for the ux50. here's the link:
http://semsons.com/pdastforsots.html
do you think that would work? well would it be a good quality stylus? its only 3.50 so i wanted to consider it
also they sell these: USB-A to Mini USB 5 Retractable Cable by ZIP-LINQ
heres the link:
http://semsons.com/ustominusb5b.html
i think some others here have mentioned it. since it charges via a pc (and claims to support the ux50), do you think i could plug it into the battery extender and charge it that way? if it does infact charge the ux via pc shouldnt that work too?
and last...here is the battery extender i'm hoping to get:
http://semsons.com/unbaexwiusbp.html
its the 3rd generation extender that also has various dc plugs so i can use it to power other things like my gameboy and cd players and digital cameras
thanks, Gavin

I wanted that one (battery extender) but I decided to get the 2nd Gen. Tell us how it goes.

The battery extender gavin319 is referring to doesn't seem to have the belt clip. I prefer JAMs battery extender. :)

My friend has that stylus. It's pretty good, but I know for a fact that it doensn't "click" like the original UX's does. But it isn't loose so that's all right.

I use the belt clip. Just to let you know. It is very useful. I place the extender inside my pocket and keep it clipped for easy on/off and disconnecting.

hm... good point, i'll think about that. as for the USB-A to Mini USB 5 Retractable Cable by ZIP-LINQ
heres the link:

does anyone know if i could use this to connect to the battery extender? if it allows the ux to charge when connected to a pc, it obviously can take power through that mini usb port. if i just bought this instead of a charging case or brando cradle then it would take up less space and would save me like $25. if anybody knows about this please let me know, i'd really appreciate it.

The UX can't charge through the built-in mini USB. This is the reason why we need the Sony/Brando cradle or the charging case. Sony could have made this possible, but I don't know what they were thinking when they designed the cradle. :(

Just as I thought, the belt clip does come in handy, keeps our hands free to handle the UX. :)

Your data cable that came with your UX will work as well. But to be more organized, I think it will work. DO NOT QUOTE ME! Seeing as it is a USB cable and the site says...
*Will also work as a Charge & Sync cable for the Blackberry 6200, 6750, 7200, & 7510, Zire 21, Zire 72, Sony Clie UX-50
So I think it will work.

thanks, GavinThis battery extender works with the UX, I have seen some one using it.
The USB port is not sticked to the battery extender, you can pull on it, there is a wire behind.

has anyone tried just using their computer data transfer cable and connecting it to the battery extender? theres shouldnt be any risk of hurting your ux right? its just gonna say there is an external battery source or there isnt one....anybody have a reason not to do this?

This should work without any problem.
I've tried this cable from PC to case/charger without problem.
When I use a battery extender, it's because I travel, so, at this moment, I prefer a zipLink which is smaller.

cool, thanks everybody. just put my order in for the products i listed in the beginning. if the ziplinq works to just connect the ux to the battery extender, i'll be so happy. $33 instead of $150 for an EB40....gotta love it :D

don't forget the case/charger !!
you CANNOT charge thru the mini USB port of your UX. (Christian said it).

yea, but the thing is, the ziplinq cable claimed on the site that it could sync and charge through the mini-usb port...so i figured i'd give it a try with the battery extender directly to the ux (mini-usb port). if it doesnt work to sync and charge with that cable then i'll just to talk to semsons and then probably buy a case/charger.
