I own a Sony Clie peg-N610C and the programs that I want to run on it require os 5 and I have os 4. I'm very frustrated because I have previously made great use of it and kept in in prestine condition. I would like to get so much more use out of it, but have been told that there is no way to update the os. Anyone else encountered this? Suggestions please...

My suggestion is to thank your 610 for years of faithful service and move on to a newer PDA. It's an unfortunate fact of life that computers age rather quickly. Your 610 is not obsolete as long as it meets your needs, but as you find more software and accessories you want to use that will not work on it, you'll either have to decide to live without those new things or to fork over the money for a new PDA. Sorry ....

Sorry ....agreed. give it a big hug (but not in public because people will stare LOL), and let it sit in its box. but you don't necessarily have to decommision it. i still use my SJ20 everynow and then as a paperweight, or basic calculator when i'm too lazy to find my other calculator. no PDA is ever obsolete, it's just not up to par with today's technology, that's all!

Well, there is no chance to get OS5 on it due to the different processor. But isn't there an alternative version of the program?
Worst-case solution: PowerOne graph+IIIc/Clie=graphing calculator...

Thank you to all who took the time to read my guest message and reply! I am feeling much better about my decision to keep up with the times and purchase a new clie.

Some times you need that extra encouragement to be able to spend a few hundred dollars, yes they are expensive so you should use them well :>

Ananya77 -- At this LONG DELAYED response, do you still have your N610C still available, and would you consider selling it??
Thanks,
