I love my Tapwave Zodiac 2 immensely and serves me well as an organizer, eBook reader, game player (even with my PSP nearby) and overall kick-major-arse device. It is rock solid, and would be hard to follow up with, especially with its feature set.
There are some things, though, that I'd like to see in the next Zodiac's hardware. This information is based on current available technology, or soon to be available technology. None of this is confirmed, or even rumored (that I know of) but things I think could be improved upon to strengthen the Zodiac even more. The items in the following list are in no particular order.
* - Similar form factor, but with the following minor changes to accomodate the following;
* - User replaceable/accessible Smart LiOn 1800 mAh battery
* - Microphone port located below the screen, and another near the action buttons.
* - An addition user configurable button located above the action buttons opposite of the power button.
* - An improved HotSync connector/connection. Hey, why not license the new connectors from PalmOne from the T5 & E2 devices?
* - Slightly a bit thicker (1/8 thicker), to accomodate an actual stylus silo on the back as well as the larger battery.
* - As stated above, a larger more powerful battery
* - WiFi & Bluetooth. Added button next to Bluetooth one to activate WiFi in similar fashion.
* - KEEP the 2 SD card slots. I use both of mine constantly, with almost 2 SD cards in the device at all times. 2GB of Music on my Zodiac is awesome. Also, make both SDIO compliant.
* - Z5 RAM Configuration - 128MB RAM, 128MB FLASH RAM; Z7 RAM Configuration - 128MB RAM,
* - 400MHz processor, with some form smart sensing technology so it automatically adjusts CPU speed accordingly.
* - High power IR port for use with Univseral Remote control software (would be included with device).
Can anyone think of anything else that would help to improve the hardware of the device? I wish it had WiFi and a microphone for internet based multiplayer games, like the PSP can do (or will do). I'd also like it for web browsing and other functions as well. Please, through your ideas and suggestions in.
