Yeah, they are all set to turn off on the 20th. I guess you could try to move your clock back, but they will be releasing the full version by the end of the month, as per their website.

I seem to remember reading that both portrait and landscape apps will be combined as one. Anyone else see this news?

Oddly enough, my copy of Portrait continues to work, and I have done nothing to modify or trick it. In a way this is nice, but it also means there is a fault in their code.

Since that version is limited in many other ways, they do not mind too much. As for the soon to be released app, it will be one utility for both devices. This is what I can gather from looking at the about screen, which lists both UX devices along with the others. Not only that, but they said it would be a combined app. The about screen could be misleading though, because it also lists the Garmin iQue 3600, which will not be supported in the coming release.

Since I posted the previous message I performed a soft reset and now it has stopped functioning. I guess it doesn't look at the date until a reset is performed.

Turn your clock back

Yes, setting the date back re-enables it, even after the date is corrected, but of course one would have to repeat this process after each soft reset. Still, it's way to continue using until the next version is released.

What he means is that if you soft reset after doing his trick, you will have to repeat the trick over again...

In my mind, it seems like the software's expiration works like this:
Soft-reset.. check date. Date is past April 20, 2005? Disable it. Else, enable it.

Thus, as he says, you can trick it by setting your date to something prior to April 20th and then soft reset. This activates the software again. You can then set your date back to the proper date. Since it only seems to check the date when you soft reset, you can use it normally until you soft reset again.

Lol.. setting the date to 1994 is a nifty idea though. :)

rcxAsh is correct. I set the system date back, soft reset, then correct the system date and Portrait will run until the next reset. I suppose one could leave the system date set incorrectly, but this creates problems with alarms, datebook entries, email datestamps, etc.

Lolol...personally, I don't think portrait utility is worth having my years wrong as of yet. Maybe when it gets better.

As it has been written a couple of times, you don't need the years to be wrong (for more than one minute). Unless you soft reset every 5 minutes... :)

Definetely not...landscape is far more advantageous than portrait is. I am surprised there aren't many more landscape oriented devices out there.

HA yes i was just gonna keep the somewhat free one.. but on second thought and after reading about the final app in the th forums i think i might invest as it lets you specify which apps to do it in and it goes faster now so maybe its worth it...

It also improves your ability to make screen captures, though it still isnt perfect.

Yeah...that was a big drawback from the previous version.

It would involve some work, such as setting the api for the program you want to capture before you take the screenshot, but it does work. My Zuma review pics on TamsPalm were taken when I had landscape installed, and I got a full screenshot, including the status bar.
