it's so sad that .. the previous 2-3 years ago .. it was very popular .. palm and pocket pc .. it's hard to see new devices coming now .. and many companies stop making new units ..
sad

I doubt that this is the right forum for this topic, but anyway:
I assume it's more a problem of saturation of consumer demand. People who need a PDA have one by now and the devices are pretty good already and it's hard to motivate people to replace their old units with a new one when they don't need additional features. Mobile Video, WLAN and things like that might be a selling point but many PDAs already have these features.
Mobile Phones combining PDAs will gain more market shares, that's for sure.

I visit TreoCentral and it's like Cliesource the other year, full of peeps posting like mad. I agree that the phone/PDA thing seems to be the future, but honestly didn't think that would be the case a few years back.
I use my Clié every day still; As my TV remote. Other than that it does everything it needs to and for the heavy lifting I have my Powerbook, so I also agree that current PDAs are pretty good for what they do. :)
See my sig for my soon to be new PDA. Besides the UX, this was the first PDA in years that appealed to me.
I read a blurb some place that mentioned Sony will be getting back into the PDA market later this year, it was probably just a rumor though?
I was also thinking that most peeps jumped on the OS 5 bandwagon a couple of years back, so saw no neeed to upgrade. I'm still on OS4, so knowing my luck, as soon as I get my OS5 PDA, OS6 will be released the following month. And on this OS thing, I've read that Apple is looking into buying Palm.

Cellphones with "pda" features are taking too much attention and that is big loss to palmone type pda companies, because peoples believes always that they do all what real pda devices do even they haven't ever tested real pdas. My sister husband is very good example crying with his nokia communicator. However also in my opinion corporations should add more wlan devices to their their next devices, but bigger battery is also important what they should consider.
