i am thinking about buying a zodiac but i was wondering if anyone knows or can maybe test the output power of the usb on the zodiac? :confused:

Sorry, the USB for the Zodiac (and most PalmOS PDA) is a USB client. That means that it must be connected to a PC, and the PC is in control, and supplies the power (which may or may not be used by the PDA, see next topic).
The Tapwave can not control USB devices. (the one exception is the CLIE NZ90, which is both a USB client and a USB host - for printing to USB printers)

Another question is whether the power from the USB port (power coming from the PC) can be used to charge the PDA. Some models like the T3 do charge up when connected to the USB cable only, other models like the CLIE line do not (they have a separate power connector)
For the Tapwave, it does *not* charge from the USB port (there is a funky connector where you connect the provided power supply)

There are some daring people over at Tapland that have modded their cables to provide a 'trickle charge' to their Zodiacs through the USB cable from their PCs. This is kinda risky, and unneeded for most people's purposes...
