Hi everyone and thanks for making this forum so interesting :)

I've owned an HP iPAQ 6340 Pocket PC Phone Edition so far, and I was getting a little bored by all this Microsoft stuff and recently I had the nice opportunity to get a brand new like Clie UX50.

I've been used to Palm OS years ago, and that was really strange feelings for me to go back to those wonderful machines Clie are.

But the problem is I'm totally lost among what happened about PalmOS softwares these past years !

So I would really appreciate if you would kindly give me a few advice about what "must-have" softwares I should get and only those which would perfectly fit my new UX50: I mean optimised for the screen resolution and so on.

What I would like most would be:
- Great looking launcher (not too complicated and without those tons of features I will never use)
- Powerful tools helping to manage memory cards and moving softwares back and forth from RAM memory to MS card
- Just a couple of good games with great graphics.
- And at last... any kind of "must have" software.

Any advice will really be welcome :D
Thanks to you !

Salut et bienvenue ! (hello and welcome !)

The first soft to buy is KEYQUICK (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84998&page=1), with this soft, you almost, don't use your stylus.

Some informations (http://forum.palmattitude.org/viewtopic.php?t=16494&start=0) in a foreign ;) language.

Thanks a lot, both of you, for your answers.
Content de voir un français par ici (glad to meet a french guy here) :-)
I'll take a look at that software and read the "Applications" section.
I hope you won't mind if I come back later on with a few more questions ;-)

Hi http and welcome to the 1src Forums. I'm sure you will find everyone friendly, helpful and you will discover that this is a great place to become proficient in the use of your new handheld.

I'd like to encourage you to utilize the SEARCH function of this board located in the blue bar above. You can query most anything you can think of and chances are, we have already covered that topic at length and you will be able to find the answers you are looking for. There is also a comprehensive FAQ located conveniently on the main UX-50 page that will also help you to find your answers.

Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not saying you shouldn't ask questions but rather I encourage you to pursue the answers to your questions first by searching the forums because you will find you will learn so much more by revisting the issues we have already solved.

Good luck, Godspeed and again, welcome to the group!!!

By the same author of KeyQuick, might I recommend AppShelf as a great looking functional launcher without too many complicated features.

The main feature of it that I like is that it takes advantage of the UX series' thumb board.

In addition to the standard way of tapping an icon, you can use the arrow keys to select programs, and launch them with the enter key.

And even cooler, let's say that you wanted to run the program Date Book. Start typing on the thumb board D A T... and as soon as you have typed enough letters to uniquely identify the program's title that you want to run, just press enter. You may want to try out the demo too see what I mean. In AppShelf, any program can be accessed via the thumb board. If you use the "MiniPad" bar, press the tab key to access the programs on it.

Though, if you intend to use your UX40 in tablet mode mostly, this may be a feature that you may not find useful. Personally, I find this feature very useful.

Welcome http!

Do a search for essential apps in this forum and you'll get all the info you want and more. As for a launcher...I like Zlauncher. You can make it look like anything you want...it is kind of weird to setup though. FileZ is very useful tool for file management, and its free. For games, we are currently waiting for SharkyBoy to see if he can get a key assignment appplication done. That way we'll be able to bind keys to the keyboard, something not possible prior. But I have Bejeweled 2, Billiards, Holdem, SolFree on my PDA and I love it. As for other applications, there are billions out there that you should try it out:

NetFront 3.1
QuickNews
Verichat
RepliGo
Hi-Launcher
and many many more...

Thank you so much everybody for all your answers and advices :)
Yes, I'm going to use the search function to discover all what would fit my new UX50, and come back here to ask if I definetly don't get what I'm looking for.

Great forum and thanks again to all of you ! :D
