Not for storing stuff, it only uses the RAM embedded to in-game data and what not. The value packs come with a 32mb MS duo that lets you store any (small) combination of music, pics, and movies. When my 1gb ms duo comes in the mail, I'll be using that for media and what not, and then just use the 32mb for game profiles.
