CursorDA

Web site (http://www.muchy.com/review/cursorda.html) : muchy.com, all Japanese.

A/ What for ?

To get a cursor which can be moved an all your screen (480x320), valid the function (or just the place) which is under the cursor with “enter”.
CursorDA cannot go to the status bar.

Here’s an example :
http://muchy.com/review/shot/cursorda1.gif

B / Down loading :

To download, click on “CursorDA1.2” in big letters on top of the web site page.

C/ Unzipping :

You get :
- CsrDA1.2.prc, you need it.
- KQFix03.prc, you need it.
- CursorDA Brief Manual, I don’t understand all. If you do, please explain to me.
- Read me.txt, it’s like a collection of little black squares.
- Some gif; you can have a look.

D/ How to launch CursorDA ?

Use DA launcher5 to launch it. Ctrl + T + T makes it (I use KeyQuick).
Or
Make a short cut with KeyQuick ( http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84998&page=1&pp=15). This way of doing seems better and quicker.

E/ How to configure it :

This is what I have done, there are, may be, some other ways of doing.
1/ Find KQFix in your launcher, tap on it -> Nice panel in Japanese except 2 rectangles : Enable- Disable. Tap on “enable”, mark the square in front of : “enable after reset”.
2/ Go to another application. ( I’m not sure it’s absolutely necessary but I prefer. :p )
3/ Launch CursorDA.
4/ Click with your stylus in the upper left corner. Ctrl+M doesn’t work.
5/ you get, almost, this panel.
http://muchy.com/review/shot/cursorda.gif
Now, you choose :
6/ Boost detect : mid.
7/ Boost value : mid.
8/ Pushing time : mid.
9/ Cursor operation : 4 button.
*Beware, for Key1, Key2, cancel, my UX is missing 2 columns: Addr and Todo.
(I make often mistake when I use, to miss)
10/ Key1 : sche.
11/ Key2 : memo.
12/ Cancel : back.
Mark the squares in front of : silkarea, select text, popupmenu.
*Start vertical is missing on UX.
Click on “OK”.

-> When you launch “cursorDA” you’ll be able to move the horizontal line (Y) with the jog or the 2 arrows up/down and the vertical line (X) with the 2 arrows left/right.
-> When you press “enter”, you get the same result than a tap at the crossing point.

E/ Strange things at the border.

1/ If you go too far up or down, you get a black rectangle at the bottom left corner. If you click on this rectangle the result is…variable. Try it on differents applications and tell us the result.

2/ If you go too far left or right, you get a pop-up with : cancel, home, power, light, sche, addr, todo, memo. You can scroll in this pop-up with the jog or the 2 arrows up/down, valid with “enter”. Here’s the result :
Cancel -> quit CursorDA.
Home -> launcher.
Power -> turn off your device.
Light -> backlight.
Sche -> hard button with the standard function of NetFront.
Addr -> hard button with the standard function of Mail.
Todo -> hard button with the standard function of DateBook.
If you have remapped this buttons, you will arrive in the new function.
Memo -> memo !!

Have fun .poneh ! :D

Ah cool! Thanks for the tips antoinepierre!

Question though. What version of DA Launcher are you using? I can never seem to launch a DA by using the keyboard alone. After hitting Ctrl+T, I have to tap the icon I want. You said that you can press Ctrl+T, T. This doesn't seem to do anything for me..?

I just upgraded to version 5.1b4.

I just upgraded to version 5.1b4.I have DAlauncher 5.0.

When you press Ctrl+t+t, if your tool bar is flickering : make a soft reset or press slowly for the second "t".

Hmm, weird... still not doing anything. This is the strangest thing lol. Maybe an application is intercepting these (Eg, if I'm in Due Yesterday, Ctrl+t, t tells me how many over due assignments I have).

What application are you usually in when you do this?

I've tried two methods, by the way..
1. Press and hold ctrl, press t twice consecutively while ctrl is held down.
2. Press and hold ctrl, press t, command bar appears. Release ctrl, press t.

Neither does anything.. I've done a soft reset.

Try this, may be ?

Press Ctrl
Release Ctrl
Press t
Press t

OK ?

I don't use due yesterday, the only soft which is not DA friendly is Picselviewer.

You can digg in Keyquick/extent/MenuOpe. There are 3 rectangles with "commandBar".
In front of commandbar1, I have : "t" alone.

Hmm, maybe it's a KeyQuick feature that you're using? I don't have KeyQuick installed.

I thought that the arrow keys were the whole point of this thread? (Title says, "...with the 4 arrows")

Works great over here. Just that I still have to use my stylus to activate the DA in the first place.

Is there any possible way to get this to work with Targus' Universal Wireless Keyboard. It has a cursor/mouse thingy that works as an actual point/cursor for pre-os 5 devices, but there's no such luck on os 5 palms. Any way to configure it to work?

Bind it with KQ...does it work with Zlauncher???

Really, you should try KeyQuick, it's the most useful soft for UX owners.

(You can even find a nice tutorial in english about this soft ;) )

Yes, I did try KeyQuick, following your guide. However, it made my device too slow. It began to defeat its purpose when I couldn't even enter in notes properly anymore. The keyboard wouldn't respond properly anymore.. I could never figure out why.

That's weird...KeyQuick shouldn't affect the speed of your device...never heard of that happening.

Do you use an other soft to remap the keyboard or some hard keys ?
I had problems when I wanted to use KQ and Okey together.

Not criticising anyone...this is just my two cents.

The reason I like handhelds so much for one is the touchscreen feature. I was pissed when the PSP didn't have touchscreen. I see using the keyboard instead of the sylus as a waste of time when I want to get to an app quick. I also keep my device in tablet mode 90% of the time. 10% is laptop mode for replying to posts on 1src, writing a document for school, adding a ToDo item, Memo sometimes. But I use my device mostly for Movies and Music.

I totally agree JAm. I use mine in tablet mode 90% of the time as well. But I just thought it would be a useful feature to get things done without using the fingernails. I don't really like pulling out my stylus neither cause I have to hold it when typing and stuff. But until this CursorDA works with Zlauncher, I will still to the nails. If you make your pinky pointy enough, it's as effective as a stylus (not that I do that...or do i?)

I don't disagree with JAmerican and .Poneh, I just don't use my UX the same way.
For me the UX is a laptop which fits my jacket pocket. It's a tool !
I never use tablet mode. :o .
I never hear MP3. re- :o .
I never watch movies. re-re- :o .
I never play video games. re-re-re- :o
Sorry, I'm too old ! ;)

I can understand the games, movies, and MP3, but no tablet mode  That was one of the reasons I got the UX. I wanted a Tablet PC due to my teacher had one then I saw the UX.

Joining in the semi-off-topic fray, wow! You guys use your UX50s in tablet mode 90% of the time?! Wouldn't a TH55 be better in this case then?

For me, it's just the reverse. I use my UX40 in clamshell mode 90% of the time. Tablet mode is usually reserved for taking pictures, reading the Bible, and playing certain games.

I chose the UX series over the TH series for the thumb board. If it wasn't for the thumb board, I would probably have looked for a TH55 instead. Bigger screen, more memory, Clie Organizer, etc. But the UX? The thumb board is what makes it for me.

And now back on task...
Strange.

What? Really? Weird! I wasn't using OKey along with KQ. This is so strange... so you mean when you have KeyQuick enabled, you do not notice a slow down in the keyboard input? When I was trying out KeyQuick, if I typed too fast, it would miss characters. And not just one or two here and there.. I'm talking about upto half a word or more. That's why I ended up dropping it...

Perhaps I will have to look into it again some time.

Well...I find inputting into a PDA with graffitii unberable. I like the UX's ease of inputting information. I use it mostly in tablet because I am most of the time just looking information up, and not actually typing.

I actually like Keyquick, I like not having to take out the stylus to do certain things. A, one less thing to lose. B, the ability to just whip it out and begin using it to do what I have to do. I'm not much of a launcher guy until I tried Hilauncher which I liked mainly for trigger mechanisms; and again no taking out the stylus. My question to AP does the registared version have more triggers(short cuts) than the unregistered version. In Hilauncher you have sub menus of the main menu, can you do that with Keyquick?

JAmerican : you wanted a tablet PC, I wanted a laptop. :D
RCXcash : thank you, I feel less lonely. ;)

RCXcash and Tuttle, why don't we finish this discussion in KQ thread ? There. (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?p=803608#post803608)
