Any comments on Palm OS VS Symbian OS? Which one is more user friendly, which is better, the pro and cons and how easy it is to move from one to another OS.

Boy, have I been waiting for this question! lol Anyway, I've got both currently. I have a Sony Ericsson P900 (Symbian) and the NX70. Let's see...this is probably how I would rate them for myself.

Ease of use: Palm by a hair(or two)
Intuitive interface: Tie(both have icons and a touch screen-how easy is that?)
Software: Palm hands down. With Symbian you'll crawl all over the net trying to find exactly what you want(plus the apps aren't cheap)
External hardware: Palm (Symbian has some good stuff, but good luck finding GPS that works well with it.)
Winner: Palm - I would buy another Palm powered device in a second. With Symbian, I'd be scouring the box to find out exactly what options the device has.

I enjoy my Symbian phone, but have really only used it as a phone and not much as a PDA. Sure, an integrated address/phone book that syncs with Outlook is 100% awesome, but really that doesn't justify the device in my eyes. I'm looking for a total package and at the moment, I'd rather have a tiny cell phone and a separate (sweet) Palm. To me, Symbian = Linux. It's out there and it's definitely good, but it takes a specialized person to use them efficiently(I have a RedHat box so please no bashing me as anti-Linux:D)

Now, I will really be in a kink when I get my hands on the Treo. That one might have me rethink the last paragraph.......

BTW, if you have any specific questions or anything, feel free to drop me a PM and I'll tell ya what I can. :D

I was eyeing the P910a and my aim is to carry a single item (phone + PDA). I myself am very comfertable with Palm OS and am not a fan of Windows at all on a PDA, Symbian OS I have never seen and your comments gives a quick review of things, thanks. The size and looks of the phone seem to be better then anything else in the market I have seen. The GSM coverage is not that good in the US yet so I guess that helps in making this decision. Maybe in a year or so we will have something better available.
