I purchased a SJ22 today so while it's charging I'm reading the clie pamphlet that came with it and decided to go back to the computer store and play with the NX70V/U and the black NZ model. I guess it's like what they say about drinking. It's hard to go back to beer after champagne!

I liked: the virtual graffiti screen and seeing the ink in that area. NO MISTAKES while writing at all because you can see it all. I loved the hires and speed and camera. Even though I know I could use the SJ22, I know I could definitely grow into the nx.

Now my questions: what is the differences between the x and z models. Is the camera a higher zoom on one than the other? Speed? I did see that there was a flash on the NZ model. It's like $250 or so more and what do you get for that $?

I don't own a digital camera and the camera that is on it, is it passable? And the NX model, what does the V/U mean?

I know I could go to the sony clie web page but I really need for some hands one users to give me their direct experiences. In what ways did you grow into this model, using programs and features that you didn't think you would? Lastly, cases? Which ones and why. I figure I'd want leather protection and little added weight.

many thanks

You sure packed in a lot of questions.

You asked in another post about the camera and such. Please read my reponse there about the camera differences.

Basically... the NX has a fixed pseudo type of camera where the NZ has a more 'real' digital camera. Auto Focus.. better white balance ... some special effects .... red-eye reduction when using flash (no flash on the NX).

NX and NZ have same processor (200mhz ARM based CPU)
NX and NZ come standard with the same amount of memory (16mb Flash ROM and 16mb Internal RAM of which only 11mb is useable by the consumer).
NZ and NX both have keyboards although I think the NZ Keyboard is a little 'better'
NZ and NX both run Palm OS5
NZ and NX both have 320x480 resolution.
NZ has built in BlueTooth (NX doesn't have it. Seperate BT MS Type Card needs to be purchased)
NZ has removeable batteries where NX doesn't. Basically you can carry a spare charged battery with you for those times of high PDA Usage.
NZ has seperate WiFi Slot so you could run a Memory Stick (MS) WiFi, and BlueTooth all at the same Time. NX doesn't offer this

Those are about the biggest similarities/differences between them.

The camera and built in blue-tooth, Removeable Batteries are the biggest changes to the NZ from the NX. As I mentioned above... the built in bluetooth on the NZ does give one the ability to connect via bluetooth and use a MS ... where with the NX... you seem to either use your MS .... or use a BT card.

As far as cases.... well there are cases which are 'generic' type cases which work great with the NZ. If you are more interested in custom leather cases which fit the NZ90 like a glove... well wait a little bit and they will be coming out very soon. There are already some nice custom leather cases out for the NX models.

I'll let some of the other posters in here give you all the web-sites where you can find cases for NX and NZ Models. Again.... will be a couple more weeks I think... for some of the premier Leather cases to hit the market (vaja cases).

You said the NX doesn't have a separate "WiFi" slot. Actually it does...

also I didn't read anywhere above that the the NX only has 640x480 resolution photos, where as the NZ has 2 megapixel resolution... the camera in the NZ is a huge improvement over the NX.
I think the NZ's camera is comprable to many other 2 mega pixel cameras.

dramsey, actually the_iceman mean that NX doesn't offer bluetooth + wifi slot + memory stick all at the same Time.

eric2002, to be more specific,
nx offer max resolution at 640x480 dpi, not only.(got smaller dpi too)
NZ offer max resolution at 1600x1200 dpi to smallest at 320x240.
