Look at what I did...

Before...
http://jamerican.net/1src/MediaLauncher/MediaL-Before.PNG

After...
http://jamerican.net/1src/MediaLauncher/MediaL-After.PNG

I like FMP and RescoViewer a lot so I decided to get rid of the Movie and Photo buttons from Media Launcher. The only thing is that the Media Launcher Movie and Photo functions are still active. Just covered up. ;) :p

EDIT: I also changed the name of the Media Launcher to...

http://www.jamerican.net/1src/MediaLauncher/MusicLauncher.jpg

What you guys think.

EDIT:

Here you go guys...

MusicLauncher Skin (http://jamerican.net/1src/MediaLauncher/MediaLCommonSkin-MusicOnly.zip)

Download to MS/Int. Media. then copy to RAM.

Don't you still need the same files to work properly? So why would you make it less versatile?

I only installed the filesthat make MediaLMusic work. MediaLMovie, MediaLMusic, MediaLMusicSkin and some other files are not on my device. :) I see this as an improvement because 320x240 movies suck and Photo is buggy on the UX. So in turn, I made MediaLauncher or now MusicLauncher more versatile.

How's Photo buggy? I don't think the movies are that bad...when you send the videos from the computer to the card, I am unablke to see the first frame image on the list, does that happen to u guys as well?

Regarding the photos, I think that it's because you can't switch between Internal Media and the Memory Stick. This is annoying, for example, because I store all my pictures in the Internal Media. Use my memory stick for MP3. Thus, the memory stick is always in. When I want to view the pictures I took, I have to remove the memory stick just to do this.

That was annoying, which is why I never used the Photo part of Media Launcher.

I have a trick for your situation. Reset your device with your MS removed. Once you are all loaded up past the prefs window, insert it again. Goto MediaLauncher and you will see your music. Goto Photo and you will see your photos on your Int. Media.

so you changed the skin, but if you click on the place where normaly the movie and photo buttons (tabs) are, do they still work?

That's what I was wondering. I don't think so because he moved the music button to the left, which was originally the Movie tab. So maybe JAm manipulated it somehow.

If I press the Photo area, Media Launcher flickers then goes back to the Music Tab. If I press Music, which is were the Movie Tab area is, the Movie Player comes up. I didn't install MediaLMovie and MediaLMusic. They are not required for the app to work.

@ PoNeH: I switched the Movie and Music Tab images. Then I modified the Movie and Photo tab images to make them blank. I didn't change any of the code. I might to make a AUDIO folder in the main directory of my MS. Just like all my MP4s are in the MOVIES folder in the main directory. I also modified FMP to not view MQVs so that when people are watching videos, it doesn't continue to my personally recorded videos. I view my MQVs in Movie Player. It all works out.

Wanted to see what you guys thought first. :D

Its only one file but seeing as NetFront opens PRC files and reads them, I placed it in a zip for all those on the road :)

Yes it is. Take a look at the skin file in the download packages.

If it worked of course. Then everyone would use it. I do like the way it was originally made, but until its fixed, I think this is a good idea, not that you said anything contrary to that.

Actually I would use only Music still because Photo and Movie sucks. MediaLMusic is the best thing SONY has come out with in terms of presentation and delivery in software. Resco and FMP are way better than Movie and Photo.

I don't see why ppl hate the MovieLauncher so much. It works flawlessly with me. FMP is good, but lacks some features.

MovieLauncher is missing one thing... fullscreen. That's what I find its flaw to be. FullMoviePlayer doesn't have a cool skin but it does have fullscreen.

It's a pain to resume a previous point on the movie though.

JAmerican

I actually hated when MovieLauncher started a movie from its previous point. This is another plus for FMP because I can start over or resume :)

One more thing I did was I moded FMP so that it didn't view MQVs in the list. So FMP would be used for viewing videos from my PC and MoviePlayer would be used to view my camera videos. Sometimes, you don't want everyone seeing what you record. ;) I know you can change the filetype from the drop-down menu but I just like FMP, the use of hard buttons for controls, scrolling through video with the jog dial when the video is stopped or changing the volume with the jog dial when the video is playing. It is a great app. Its the best I've seen in functionality, customization and useability. :)

Don't you guys like the fact that FMP isn't picky about file names? I love FMP mainly for the reason that I can just throw all my MP4 files into the /MOVIES/ directory with any descriptive name, and it finds it.

No extra work or hacking is needed.

The only thing is that it doesn't seem to notice MQV files in the /MOVIES/ directory, as JAmerican notes (Though, I could swear that it works for the directory that MovieRecorder stores them in). However, if you rename your MQV files to MOV and throw them into the /MOVIES/ directory, it works fine.

But either way, with the advent of FFmpeg's support for PSP/Clie compliant MP4 files, I'll never turn back to MQV files unless there was some compelling reason..

It's not that I hate Media Launcher... it's just that I like the convenience of FMP. Full screen is also nice, as you don't have the side bar to distract you. Plus, it has a smaller foot print than Media Launcher. Media Launcher is nice interface-wise and everything, but I don't look at the interface much when I'm watching a video.

Seek bar? I don't miss it too much.. I use stock mplayer and/or xine to watch videos on my computer. So it's really no difference for me.

Well, the fact that the CLIE records in MQV should be a reason to have the ability to use it. No converting required, I wouldn't like to have to keep converting my movies to watch it. I make many little clips daily.

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you're saying. Maybe cause I didn't really compose my last post properly..

But what I was saying regarding the MQV files was that FMP didn't seem to notice MQV files in the /MOVIES/ directory. However, FMP sees the MQV files that Movie Recorder creates fine. I just tested it recording a short clip. Opened FMP, and it was there.

Just to clarify my post.

The music verson is just a skin. Download the skin and install it in your device's RAM from a MS or Int. Media.

Hey thanks!

But after installing your first version of ML for TH, and the subsequent updates posted by others, it totally fried my 55! Had to do a hard reset and full backup.

So apparently my 55 can't run this. (It does load, but the screen begins to deteriorate, with columns of pixels changing, then it freezes. Soft/Warm resets only put it into the dreaded reset loop, and only a hard one gets it out).

But thanks for the alternate link posting!

If someone knows why this obvious conflict is happening, I'll give it another try. Otherwise, can't keep doing hard resets/full restores to try and get this to work!
