I've read the posts on video conversion of DVD's and AVI's. Which would be the simplest "fewest steps and least time" and leaves the smallest fingerprint so that I could squeeze the most movies onto a Memory Stick Pro for TH55. There's a post about squeezing things to 128mb but it was too many steps for me. I am not limiting my question to free software.
TCPMP plays videos great but there is no compression of files right now so it is what it is I guess.
Thanks for the help folks.

Some avis can be stuck directly into IC, but for VOB files (after decryption if necessary), you would need to convert in into mpeg, or avi, and then run it through IC. That is probably the easiest way to do it.

You mentioned VOB files. I happen to have decrypted my Lord of the Rings DVD and the results is a series of VOB files which play great on my computer. Can you tell me how I can convert these to a format that I can then run through IC?

i may be wrong (often am) but aren't vob files really just mpegs in disguise i.e. select the vob hit f2 change the name to mpg and thats it - it is now a right-clickable and ICable file.
(make sure you select the right VOB or you will end up with possibly a dubbed version or a directors voiceover version or similar)
