This week, we cover the brand new Tungsten E2, more stuff on the LifeDrive, G1 now works on the T5, the Zire 31 "Orange Screen of Death" problem, the point of the PalmOne/PalmSource breakup and why this is good news for both companies and why a Windows Mobile Treo won't kill Palm OS. Im going to listen to the last two podcasts back to back. First, "give up on G1", and then, "G1 on your T5". Ha ha ha :) Well, maybe the issue wasnt that they closed a hole in the system, but that the new system simply made the old files incompatable.

I never thought PalmOne deliberately did something to "kill" Graffiti one. I figured some change they made to something else in Garnet 5.4 had a side effect of stepping on the old G1 libraries.

I suspect the reason fake-ram PalmOS devices don't work with the un-hacked G1 libraries is the same reason you have to go through the round-about way of installing G1 onto normal PalmOS devices.

I'm still not sure what Igor changed TBH - He said he added a routine, perhaps one of the initialization entrypoints...?

Is it just me, or am I really looking forward to a P1 device?
The last time I felt this way was when I ordered my m130 and it took a couple of days to arrive! (two handhelds ago)
I'd love an excuse to go SD again. The thought of STILL being able to run G1 (at least I suppose one will) doesn't hurt either!

The other podcast is pretty entertaining too! Way to go!

The Tungsten X is looking more an more appetizing every day, true... Just hope it's small enough to be livable. I've really become attached to the size of my T5. I can negotiate, but please don't let it be NZ90-sized...

ROFL!

Ahh, good one :D

I don't think you need to worry about that 'tho, Palm aren't Sony; They're too conservative to risk something like an NZ90 ;)
I suspect it'll be similar sized to the T|5, 'tho maybe a bit thicker (Like UX50 thicker).

Jeff, who is that guy in the background in your maximum geek podcast. He seems to like interrupting you and going off topic. It kindof explains how that podcast can be sooooo much longer when not saying anymore.

1. It's GMT -4

2. It's great that P1 is finally getting themselves ingear about battery conservation. As much as I want it to be contrary, I know that most companies aren't in the market of making geek devices. I think the upgrades inthe E2 are good, and were much needed.

Jeff, I found your alter ego "Josh" to be highly annoying. It's too bad really. I found the topics interesting, especially the discussion about Robotech. I will continue to listen to your 1SRC podcast. The Extreme Geek format is just not my cup of tea. Sorry.:o

I love that, "Alter Ego". He does have some to add near the end, like when they are talking about Robotech.

On the maximum Geek podcast, the interruptions from Josh are too often and really breaks the flow of the podcast. It's meant to be part comedy, but too much of it and the podcast seems to be here, there, and everywhere... in fact, when Josh began to be serious (Robotech part), its when the podcast becomes listenable even though I am not really a Robotech fan...

Just my two cents. Of course, there might be someone who like that format but I will probably stick to listening the 1Src one...

I had to stop listening before I even got to the Robotech part...The info on the LifeDrive/Tungsten X was good, but hard to listen too.

Jeff, another good Podcast. Keem 'em coming.

I agree with the others re: Maximum Geek podcast. That Josh chap may have some good contribution, but he needs to work on his delivery I'm afraid - too distracting for me. Like you joked (?) Jeff, you come across as the professional one of the team. That said, I did get some good stuff from it. Thanks.

Jeff -this is the first podcast I've listened to. Ever. I really like it! Been reading writingonyourpalm.com for a couple years now. Now I can connect a voice to all those articles. Keep up the great work. Consider me a regular listener....
