Changing icon placements and tab order in zlauncher

Hi all, sorry for the noob question, but having no luck.

1) First question just to make sure i'm on the same planet as everyone else: Are categories in the palm launcher and tabs in zlauncher the same thing - when I click on the drop down list on the top right of the screen, are they tabs?

2) assuming they are tabs, how do I change the order of these tabs in the drop down list - I want to put my most used tabs together at the top of the list.

3) How do I change the order of the icons in any one tab on the main screen - I've tried draggin them around but they always go back to the same place.

They are the same thing but will not appear to have the same titles. Whatever you modify in ZLauncher/Palm Launcher will not affect the other due to they are based on different databases.

You cannot change the order of the drop-down menu in Palm Launcher. It stays alphabetical. As for ZLauncher, that can be changed. Goto Menu > Options > ZL Preferences > General Tab. At the very top is Tab Mode and a drop down menu. Select Top. Click OK. You should now see tabs at the top of your screen. Rearrange the order of these tabs by dragging and dropping them. Once you do this to your liking. You can remove the tabs by going to the same area and selecting None for Tab Mode. In the top right corner of ZLauncher is also a drop-down menu like Palm Launcher but it appears in the order of the tabs.


3) How do I change the order of the icons in any one tab on the main screen - I've tried draggin them around but they always go back to the same place.

To change the icon of a tap, goto Menu > Tab > Tab Properties > General Tab. Select which tab that you want to change the icon for and select the icon then select the next tab. When a popup comes up, press YES. That's it and no problem. We always here to help out a newcomer. Remember, I was just like you once. Just a way of giving back. :)

Also, if you have a Tungsten T3 or T5 could I get the Applications PRC from it?

Not sure what its called. I have a CLIE so its different. Look for Application Manager or AppMgr or Launcher or something like that. Might be called Launcher.

As for the clarifications made, I don't think you can place apps/icons in any order. They usually stay in ABC order. You could try Hi-Launcher. It allows you to change the order anyway you want. And it opens in any app...

I was able to change the order of the tabs. Make sure when you drag that the tab and the name of the tab is in a transparent tab with a border and name. Also, make sure your ZLauncher is up to date.

Hi Ja, managed it now - there's an option in preferences to enable drag and dropping - sorted. I've found two files, launcher.prc and launcherENus.prc - hopefully what you want. There's nothing called app - anything that looks remotely like it. let me know how to send them eg email address and they'll be on their way. Thanks for help!

Ps they don't come up on the 'beam' menu, had to use fileZ to get them off the palm - so hope they don't cock up your clie!

I know, this thread is outdated, but I want to clarify for other people stumbling upon it how to change the icon order: It has to be defined for each tab separately, I think it is set per default to alphabetical order. So go through the tabs, and for each one, choose from the menu: Tab > Tab properties > [Icon tab] ... in the lower right choose the sort order.
