I'm trying to get the amazing new Google Maps site

www.maps.google.com

to work on my TH, but it says that the browser is "not supported", and gives the option to try to load the page anyway. It won't work.

I've tried to change the user agent in Netfront, but it's still not working.

Any ideas? Could someone maybe post a working user agent text string that I can copy and paste into NF?

The Google Maps site is amazing, much better than Mapquest. Plus, they have added satellite views for much of the terrain. If you haven't tried it recently, you should check it out again. It's also FREE! :)

Google Maps uses ActiveX and Netfront does not support ActiveX no matter what user agent you put into it. It's a software capability issue not a browser user agent issue.

Google Maps uses ActiveX...

I thought it used some combination of DHTML and Java becuase it works well under Firefox as well.

Here's a breakdown, for anyone curious... very cool.

I think someone here at 1src might have posted this link about a month ago.

Thanks for your input, everyone!

Bionic Antboy, there's fabulous info on that page you linked to.

meir87, that "local" link works nicely on the TH, thanks.

I was hoping to have the full-featured map page working, with the satellite views too, but I guess that's a pretty tall order for the browser to accomplish.

I love Netfront, and I've heard that it's the best Palm browser around, but would any other browser work specifically for maps.google? I'd use another browser just for this page - I'm addicted to it (and I'm house hunting), searching via Bluetooth in the car would be killer...

snook_cs did you know that the maps at keyhole which google uses is like 2-3 years old. In the google satellite maps there are orange grooves behind my school as of today it's an empty field :(

My teacher showed that you can access the traffic cameras in new york if you have the keyhole program.;)
