I did a stupid thing.

I needed a new palm. Since I live in Japan, I asked a friend to bring over a Tungsten E to Hong Kong where I would be meeting her. I was so eager to get in charged and running that I totally forgot that Hong Kong operates at 220v. Now I've got a palm that hasn't even turned on once.

I know that the adaptor is shot. I tested it with a voltage meeter. Before I go through the hassle of ordering another from the US, I would like to figure out, if possible, if the palm is shot as well.

The quick start-up guide mentions that you can charge it via USB. Does this mean that I should be able to charge it with the USB cable that the E comes with or with a seperate powered USB cable like ones I've seen on the net? I've tried charging the E with the supplied USB cable with no luck.

I'm wondering as well if I've just blown the E's fuse. Does anyone know if the E operates like this and how I would go about resetting the fuse if it has one?

Has this happened to anyone? If so, did you have any luck getting your device working again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can charge with the USB cable that comes with the TE, but note that USB charge takes much longer than a normal charge. I think mine takes about 5-6 hours for a full charge on USB, compared to less than an hour on the normal charger.

I'm not sure if there is a fuse in the TE; if there is any, I would suspect that it is in the charger itself.

USB charging is slow as it is a trickle charge. You have probably damaged the compoents that allow it to charge, so your only real choice for efficient charging is to get it fixed.

Well, there is another way out. From what I've read off another forum (can't remember which one) you can use a samsung mobile adaptor for charging your t|e. Theres one that fits the T|E jack, provides around 5.5V and works on 220V. Have bought one in India - same 220V problem and its doing a good job. Cost about 100Rs - thats about $2.5 .
Hope that helps.
