All the pics I've found - including the PSP commercial, show the PSP mainscreen as blue with white icons. Mine is reddish with white icons. Is this the way it is supposed to be or are there different screen color settings? - Or do I have a wacky PSP?

Guess I just found the answer to my owm question.
- For those that may not know:
The background color of the PSP changes depending on the month. For example, last month (Dec 2004), it was orange. This month (Jan 2005) it is a light blue color. In the coming months, it will change to the following colors: February 2005: Yellow
March 2005: Green
April 2005: Pink
May 2005: Dark Green
June 2005: Purple
July 2005: Aqua
August 2005: Sky Blue
September 2005: Violet
October 2005: Gold
November 2005: Light Brown
December 2005: Red

I'm personally not a fan of this pink, but I'm holding back changing the date settings to see what the next one looks like.

I'm weird like that.

LOL
Thats what had me so alarmed. I really, really do not like this pink and thought I was stuck with it. Next month (May) is supposed to be dark green. I checked that out and was much happier. August will be my favorite though. I kind of wish we had the option to stick with on color but guess I'm being picky :)

Bah, I wish we had the option of putting our own pictures there. But I'm sure someone will figure out a tricky way to do this eventually. Right now I have to wait a couple weeks for Dell to ship my 1gig MS duo, but it was worth the price (95 bucks).

Egh, pink, i thought it was based on time but seems like its months :(. Ah well, won't see that screen too much, to my surprise, Acid is actually pretty good time killer ^_^.

I don't quite see the problem here. Months = time passed.

Am I missing something here? Is the change based on the beginning of the month, like the literal first calendar day (i.e. March 1, April 1, May 1, etc.), or like a "fiscal" month? I got the PSP on March 24, and the background was green. Here we are today, April 11, and it's still green. Will it change for me on April 24 (exactly one month after purchase)? What gives?

If you go to your time/date setting and change the month, you will see the color change according to the month set. Im not sure if it's the beginning of the month, manufacture date, or the date the time/date was first set. It should be easy to find out though.

Interesting question, scroll through some days on your date/time settings and see if it changes then.

Sorry my friend, the deal is long dead. Keep looking though, I was hearing rumors that Dell was going to put up some 512 ones for cheap. Who knows though.
