anyone use the Town Compass Dataviewer? I can't find anything about it on Cliesource but it looks interesting. Some of the databases for the Dataviewer seem very useful especially the world almanac, encyclopedia, and yellow pages ones. The viewer is free, but unfortunetly, you have to buy each database and some of them are quite expensive. Also there are only free trials for certain databases so it is tough to guage whether the most databases are worth the money. The viewer has support for hires+ viewing unfortunetly doesn't let you select small or hires+ fonts and most pictures seem to be lores. I am trying to decide if any of these databases are worth buying. I would be interested in hearing comments about the Town Compass Dataviewer from anyone who has bought or looked into buying one of the databases or anyone else. here is a link to the website (http://www.pocketdirectory.com). thanks

To rich for my blood. Most of the DB's are $20 bucks. I use HandBase for all my DB's, I like the abillity to create and modify my own forms. Most of the DB's that TCDV has can be found on the web and viewed with Isilo.

They have a few interesting free DBs also, but I agree, most of the DBs are rather expensive and consume a lot of memory. It is VFS capable, hires+ and very quick accessing its DBs. This version corrected my main complaint. It use to cause color distortion of the VG area on my NR.

PS: I also had a very positive experience with their customer service. They responded to my email promptly and sent me files that corrected all of my issues except the color distortion, which was corrected in this release.

I really like the DataViewer. I have the WorldBook and it's great-even illustrated!
I also have a city directory of New York City that really comes in handy and a few of the freebies.
I think <$20 US is cheap for the WorldBook. I can look so smart to the grandkids!:p

I saw your post earlier, wanted to wait to see how my upgrade experience went this afternoon. Flawless. I love it. Was concerned about upgrading databases, but had no problem doing so today and customer service emailed me back with details before I was through reading my mail (appr 3 min.). Like sebring said, customer service is excellent and it runs the huge database very quickly from the stick! Price-depends on what it's worth to you. To me, the information, the speed of access and the excellent customer service is worth more than 20 I paid for the package!

thanks for the imput yall. sounds like a very supportive developer. I think I am going to give it a try but I have a couple more questions.

how comprehensive are these databases (specifically world book, almanac, and yellow pages)? Are they equivalent to their paper counterparts?

I noticed that they sell many different aspects of the world almanac. Is there one that I can buy that includes the entire almanac?
