I own a cabinet shop and construction company, and do everyting from the field work with my crew to contracts with general contractors or clients. I've been using a palm in the trades for about three and a half years and have found some very useful apps for the trades. My list is below, I'd be enterested in any others.

ArchiCalc: This is a powerful architectural calculator. It works in fractions, feet, inches, feet/inches, metric, and yards. All of your basic functions are fully intact. It also has some really nice geometric wizards that speed up the result of legs or hypotinuses on triangles or arches, radius', and circumfrence of circles. Worthy buy. I think I paid $15 for it.

Hours: This is a freebie. This is an hour tracking app that has very nice catagorization and reporting features. I use this on cost plus progects. It track hours with notes and slots for any extras (materials). Great reporting functionality to make billing easy.

ZipCAD: This one will suprise you. CAD on your palm. Walls, doors, windows, custom drawings...

Compound Angle Finder: Another freebie. Quickly finds the Miter and Bevel settings for your saw in order to do literally any compound miter cut with any size material at any angle. You don't even have to know the angle, if you want you can just enter your verticle and horizontal distance of throw.

Wood: Another freebie. This one is a robust panel optimizer. Set the sheet or board sizes that you'll be using and enter in your cut list. This app will automatically optimize your cuts with pictures of you cuts on each sheet. You can even export to memo pad if you want.

DrillPress: Freebie. Tells you what pully configuration to use with different materials and bit sizes.

Bonsai: I can't remember the cost. This is a great project management app. Full heirarchy and integration with built in PIM's.

DtBk5: This is why I'll never leave the Palm community. This app is more powerful and useful than any other app on my palm. Very fast and effective integration of your PIMs in a very well designed interface. If calanders, todos, and contacts are your nightmare then check out DtBk. I'm a registered user of Agendus, but never have time to use it. DtBk just works better for me.

Hope to see some other apps on the list.
