Looks like two new Nikon DSLRs will be announced soon:

It will be interesting to see the specs on these cameras when they finally become available.

I wonder if they are meant to be an answer to the Rebel XT and 20D, or if they will by-pass them and present a new challenge to Canon.

I love competition. We all win. :) (Although it sometimes doesn't feel like it you buy a camera and they anounce a new model the very next week)

well, at least they waited 6 weeks after I had the camera... but I have been ill over most of that time so I feel like I barely started using it recently. *sigh*

I know what you mean. I bought the 20D and a month later they anounced the Rebel XT with many of the same features for $500 less. *sigh*

This forum isn't exactly busy, so some more posts can't hurt.

Details about the new caeras are out.

The D50 has the same six megapixel CCD sensor as the D70, but will be easier to use and differs in size and weight.

A preview can be found here:

The D70s is an improved D70 with better auto focus accuracy, slightly wider flash coverage, a higher capacity battery and a new larger 2.0" LCD monitor.
