well...I saw a CNN article on the simputer. www.simputer.org/ it seems like a pretty nice device, what do you think?

Well. All we need now is a Palm OS for this device-and rock on, handera 330...
32 MEG of ram are enough, and if you have an USB port, you probably can use USB, sticks for memory expansion.

Interesting device... not sure I would risk it. But the calendar and note feature capability, what they call "paper" being able to scribble on most digital screens as a form of quick paper writing is what I need most.

Thank you, I will keep looking at it. My TH55 fills more of my needs, but then it is no longer produced. I wouldn't mind an Amida with more digital capability, still extended to include "paper" for most functionality.

A quote from their FAQ's:
Q: When will the Simputer be available?
A: If all goes well, by March 2002 you should be able to buy one of them.

Has this thing been around? The specs seem out of date also. 32 meg of ram is not an extraordinary amount. Interesting, but never heard of one.

it went on sale in india march 2004 according to the sites.... No, it does not seem to be all that much, but it is not PPC, nor even Palm, but a very specific and customized OS....
