Just got my NZ from CompUSA. The lid/"screen" does not close very tight - there is a GAP - in both "closed" and "tablet" mode.
I didn't buy an extended warranty.
Is this normal, and/or should I take the NZ back for exchange.
By the way - great site and I love the NZ!
there is a small gap on mine, not much, though it seems like the two "bumbs" in the base under the word "clie" almost touches the lid. but there is a slight amount of space even there.

Many people have reported the same. Enough that it probably is an overall design "flaw" rather than a defective unit on your part. I rarely think about it now.

I'd blame it on NetFront :D!
Nah... NetFont would not cause this, but I do admit to my unit closing tighter after having removed Pocket Link, I think it have to do with how much is stuffed into the internal RAM...! Yes, that is it.

I give it a vote... for NetFront... and Picsel Viewer software taking up too much ram... it is causing the unit to warp... and become too heavy! ... *Laffing*
Just deleted Picsel Viewer, and suddenly I have about 4+ more megs... woah. the app itself is only 1.8 meg. Since I have never used it - other than playing with it ocationally..... well. nuf said.

I knew it, Larry... I deleted it and now my NZ closes fully. What's more my battery has stayed at the same level for over 2 hours, even though I took a 1000 pics with flash. And for some reason, I have 32megs of RAM available...??? :D

AHHhhhhh HAaaaaaaaa!
MOST amusing ...
BUT ...
1. YES, it doesn't close properly ... it's easy to live with ...
2. Move PicselViwer to the Memory Stick, using PowerRUN ...
3. Ditto NetFront, to MS ...

But seriously, my NZ actually closes 'tight', but if it didn't, for my $799, I'd probably try to exchange it for another.

So does mine. Thanks God as today is the last day of an exchange or refund without questions behind, and my decision is to keep.
Wonderful piece of equipment !

Eduardo,
Yeah me too, to night is the last day. I just can't take this baby back, it have performed perfectly. None of the issues I had read about turned out to affect the experience. I love my NZ.

The sister of a friend of mine whose boyfriends cousin works at Best Buy said it was because Netfront wasn't just a simple install, but that it needed half the space clear so that it could extract itself into a smaller application than the install file. So, the gap is probably just room for expansion - kinda like wearing tracksuit pants to an all you can eat buffet in Las Vegas (highly recommend the Aladdin buffet BTW).
Forget the Bufe and Go to Piero's on Convention center drive. It ROCKS.

Hong Kong Nick was right about moving all softwares except jackflash itself (don't dare to try--reaaly scare hard reset) to ms which i done it too.
BTW, i think this thread is about the set of NZ do not close tightly in physically, right?

My NZ closes just fine. What I seen in others with the gap - in my opinion, it makes it a tad harder to write in tablet mode due to the slight movement in the gap. This is noticable since the writing is not as sensitive as it could be on the NZ.
And I'd agree that for my $799 - I'd exchange if at all possible. If an exchange was not possible - I'd still keep my beloved NZ. It's just that why not change for an expensive machine - if it is possible. In doing so, does not affect the extended warranty for those who may "upgrade" in the future.
