Yes,
This is definately possible. However, I don't think you can find palms upgrade cd's anymore. I have succesfully flashed OS4.1 onto my old Palm IIIx by
1. Getting the flash rom tool (for OS 3.5) from the IIIx page on Palm's website.
2. Downloading the OS 4.1 Rom from palm's developer website.
3. Unzipping the Palm Vx version of the OS 4.1 Archice
3. Asking the flash rom tool to use the OS 4.1 rom file from the archive

Works perfectly, except app's such as Clock and Memo Pad arn't available.

Expansys claims to still have it available: US version (http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=113679), EU version (http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=106206).

I could not find the flash room tool (for OS 3.5) from the IIIX page on Palm's website. Have they removed it? If so, does anyone still have the file?

I just bought an old palm m50x(can't tell what model) and tried to upgrade the old Os4.0.
So far from the upgrades I tried I get a message wrong model. So the m500 and the m505 upgrades haven't worked(can't update using an xp computer so I tried on a 2000w) my next try will be for a m515, but since it don't have a dimmer button symbol in the write pad area I don't think my palm is a m515. Btw my clock function looks weird to me since my Palm IIIc and Clie Tj-37 doesn't tell time like that.

On my palm IIIc I have the note pad function beamed from a m100. So borrow an oldie but goodie to get a function on your palm IIIx(x). It's cool to have the new desktop with those notes to read( too bad its not in color)

Why not install OS4 onto the IIIc, but calculate that you loose overclockability!

OK,

So my g/f scoffed a perfectly good Palm V from a doctor she works with who was throwing the thing away. Anyway to upgrade that OS from 3.0?

So my g/f scoffed a perfectly good Palm V from a doctor she works with who was throwing the thing away. Anyway to upgrade that OS from 3.0?The Palm V originally came with Palm OS 3.1. To check:
Start the default application launcher.
Perform a menu App, Info...
In the Info dialog box, press the Version button at the bottom.
The second line at the top will change to give the OS version.Palm OS 3.3 upgrade can be downloaded here http://www.palm.com/us/support/33upgrade/. The Palm OS 4.1 upgrade has to be purchased. Possible sources are given above.

The EU version is no longer available, and the US version says they only have 7 left.

I too could use some help here. Does anyone have the OS4.1 upgrade? If not, then the flash tool and the 4.1 Rom. I have an Palm V that is failing and need to move to a replacement unit. The problem is that the original one is at 4.1 and the replacement is at 3.3. (I can't find my original upgrade disk...)

Thanks,

doc

I'm looking for Palm OS 4.0 or 4.1 upgrade for Palm III.

Hi
Not sure if this forum is still active or not. I have been given an old palm IIIXE running version 3.X of the Palm OS and would like to upgrade to 4.0 or later if possible in order for a couple of apps I have to work. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

PalmIIIxe_ENG_FlashTool.exe is what you're looking for. For the other models it's possible to upgrade, substitute their model in the first part of the filename.

Palm has OS 4.1 downloadable for the m500 and m505, dunno why they can't for the III, IIIc, IIIx, IIIxe, V and Vx. The VII could be upgraded to 4.1 but some stuff would have to be deleted from the ROM to make it fit, so rather than remove some of the stuff most people never use, Palm chose not to produce a 4.1 upgrade for the VII.

Hi,

Could someone please help me? I've got a 3x with OS 3.3 on it and I'd love to upgrade to 4.1 if possible.

(I tried to PM Tim Hanna but got a message saying could not send due to his box full)
