Hi, i own a Tungsten T3, and using the original stylus, and it sometimes feel like i'm scratching the screen. Like the drag of a sharp tip grooving the surface of the screen.

I first noticed it after a few months of use, as i don't always have a protective film covering the screen. A scrattchy spot was forming, especially over the Graffiti area. Since Palm had to repalce my T3 after of a fatal issue concerning a Palm keyboard, i also got back on a brand new screen again.

That's when i realised that only after a few weeks of use, the scratches were appearing again. I started to look closely at my stylus tip, even taking close pictures and magnifying then on my PC. It might not be really clear, but there seems to be a small chip of metal peeking on the tip of the stylus.

Palm tells me they're not responsible for those kind of things, it's not covered by the warranty. So they ask us to use the stylus to prevent damaging the screen, but it turns otherwise. Have someone noticed that. Email-me to take a look at my pictures.

p.s. Feel free to comment, or contact me wasorar@hotmail.com

Thats interesting. Palm should have liability if you can verify what it is on the tip of your stylus. I would suggest making sure that you have a screen protector, Boxwave and Belkin are some brands to choose from. After that, if you are still getting scratches, cheaper than sending your palm in would be just to get a new pack of styli.

"Palm tells me that there're not responsible..."
Seriously, that is quite funny seeing that you are using the stylus. Make sure you have that comment handy when you feel like calling them again :) They deserve to hear that one on their quality assurance calls.

What a bummer to hear about scratched screens...
Metal in your stylus! Wow!!

Not saying this would have helpped you, but..
One of the first things I do when I buy a new device is put on a new screen protector. I have a Zire 31 that I put in my pocket one time and scratched the graffiti area pretty good. The screen is so delicate, it really needs protection.

I totally know that feeling of dragging your stylus across the screen and feeling that resistance. Almost feels like a grain of sand is under your stylus as you drag.

I have a Martin Fields screen protector that has lasted a long time. It is a little scrathed up after a year or more of use, but it was probobly the best $20 I've spent on my UX.

OTOH, metal sticking out of a stylus tip is really bad. Are you sure about this? I figured most styli tips are solid plastic and screw into the barrel. I agree with Antoine, I'd call Palm back if there is metal stuck in there.
