Someone help me turn off my touchpad.

This is driving me so insane you have no idea.

Once upon a time my Sony laptop had a virus and corrupted a lot of data. I wiped the harddisk, installed all sorts of goodies, including a clean SP2 install on top of other stuff. BEFORE hand there was a little app that let me do different things with the battery, touchpad, and built-in jog dial settings. Now that I wiped the disk, that doesn't exist anymore. No problem, the touchpad stayed off. Somehow TODAY the touchpad turns back on with my logitech optical mouse already plugged in. Weird. But now I can't turn it back off. There's no setting to. GAHJKLGJLAKJGLAJFLAKBNFLDNBVALDFNGANFH.


In my device manager there are two devices showing; A ps/2 compatible mouse and an HID compliant one. I disable the HID one, my opitcal mouse stops working. Ah, so maybe the ps/2 one that windows thinks is working is my touchpad maybe? No. So now I'm pissed off because I can't type without my handpads touching the damn thing, making the cursor move or clicking it somewhere else or something retarded. Anyone know of a fix?

I really don't care if you guys don't know, I just decided this would be the forum I would use to be very mad at my laptop.

You should be able to turn it off by holding Fn and whichever F-key disables the touchpad. I can't help with that part 'tho.

Negative. The Fn only gives me control of volume, turning on the external display, and putting the hard disk to sleep. That's it.

u can set your sony touch pad not moving while you type ..

to disable the sony touchpad program .. start --> run --> type msconfig

last menu bar on the top .. pick start up

uncheck the sony touchpad .. i don't know what is it .. my vaio shows alps something .. not sure what is it on yours .. and apply it ..

reboot ..
