I was trying to import some data onto my UX50 but then it froze up. A soft reset didn't do anything, a warm reset didn't do anything, a hard reset froze it up. Is there any other way to get it starting other than to let the battery drain? I just finshed charging it... :(

Well, perhaps the internal battery disconnected. Search the forum for how to fix that.

That fix IS magic! I woke up the other day to find that my UX had a white screen with colourful vertical lines on the right hand side of the screen. I'd read smeggies thread and thought I would take the plunge and open it up.
Worked like a charm. Be very careful when you're taking it apart, so many things could get damaged. (Be careful with the screws, if you strip them then you're well...)
Hope it works out for you,

I sent my UX50 to Sony last week. My problem was it won't turn on. I did a soft reset, Hard reset, nothing... This was the second time it did this to me. I was able to get it to work the first time by just letting the battery drain to completely nothing. But it took a few weeks. Since I was still on Sony's warranty, I decided to sent it in this time. I just spoke with the Sony Repair guy yesterday, just as I suspected the first time, the battery drained to zero before they got to it. He said everything looks and works fine. Of course, that was the fix crazy_smeggie referred to. :( I could just have left it on my table to drain again and saved the trip to Sony if it ends up that they won't replace anything. :( :( :(
If I get tired of this, I'll visit CompUSA and have it replaced by a brand new HP 7200, even though it cleared Sony's Repair center.
