Is there any way to beam a file (say a memopad file) from my T3 to my laptop? I would assume this will be software to install on the laptop to recognize and understand the IR port and what to do with the communication?

Is this part of the Palm Desktop software? I checked in the Hotsync app, but it doesn't look like I can sync/send files over IR

TIA

you can just send the memo.
the computer will recognize it using windows components.

(i think you'll recieve a *.txt file)

IR works a treat to beam files. If you beam word docs or spreadsheets, either way it will just recognise it on your T3 (if you have D2G) or on your laptop as a standard MS file. I often sync via IR when I am on the road since my usb charger sync broke. I just make sure that I have a travel charger plugged in. Works a treat. I use the IR to download email and sms (text message) via my nokia 6610i. Hey, it may not be fast for any of these uses but it works well and I never have a problem. :)
