Controlling backlight on cradle app?

Is there any apps out there that would turn on the backlight to full (100%) when the CLIE is dropped into the cradle, and then reduce it to another pre or user-defined percentage (say, 50%) when it's removed again?

If not, it'd make a great hack! I'm really looking for a useful solution like this.
