I'm waiting for them to create the first lavalamp cooled case...  :p :p

I don't see why not, the CPU could be used as the heat source.
I heard of a liquid nitrogen pipe set up, so somet hing similar could be done with the lava goo.

Man, I love lavalamps. A LavaLamp CPU housing would be a buy for me...
Too bad that I can't find them in Austria!

Do they have a strobe light?
Tam Hanna

Yes, we do have that in austria.
BTW, I meant these lamps where a liquid bubbles inside.... They were hip here for a short time, but that was it.

They were hip here for a short time too.... You can still find them at spencer's gifts and some other places, but they are no longer hip. Hip hugger jeans are coming back though, so you never know.

Now if someone would just invent a tiny little mirrored ball to hang inside your computer with an LCD spotlight.....
BTW: DISCO SUCKS!!! :p

ohhhhh... you mean THESE???? :D :D
http://www.xoxide.com/discoballs.html
Just set it inside your tower case (you did get a tower case with lots of extra room right???) and then turn it on and you have disco lights reflected all over the inside of your case! :D
combine it with these: http://www.xoxide.com/lazerled.html
don't forget the laser control panel there at the bottom.... grabe a few chain lighting from here: http://www.xoxide.com/leds.html
and you are ready to go!!
(lan party leisure suit not included)
oh yeah... and don't forget these pretty babies... You’ve decked out your custom case inside and out with every lighting mod imaginable, but what about the bottom? Have you cast aside the aesthetics of the underbelly of your computer like a politician would his morals at a cheerleader convention? The Sunbeam 6 Flash Style Acrylic LED Case Feet will bring you redemption for your negligence, and get you back on the path of righteous case modding.

Never neglect a bottom. ;)

Yes I did. And here is a picture. I built it a couple of years ago but have since upgraded the motherboard and most components. But not the lighting. I can't believe how much stuff is out there now!

don't worry, I didn't buy any. :D
I have debated on getting the laser LEDs but I just have illuminated fans. :) my cold cathodes were removed when I put in the 6800GT... I really need bigger powersupplies. :)

Another Note-RGB LED'S. These leds contain a green, red and blue led in them and can display a huge lot of different colors.
If you use a smart logic(like a PICmicro controller), you can have the LED change color(PWM control) automatically. Must look cool IMHO-and won't take up much energy.

lets see... make a USB controlled mood LED.... sample the edge of the screen's color send the signal to LEDs on the idge of the computer to change to the same color and you have the equivalent of Panasonics mood lighting system for TVs.... hmmmm.... hmmmmm....

Good idea. There are so many choices these days. I remember agonizing over what case to buy when I built mine. I ended up with a Lian Li. It costs a little more than some others that I looked at, but I'm glad now that I bought it. The removable MB tray was a real time saver when I recently put in a new one. Anyway, let us know what you end up with. And be sure to post some pictures after you set up the lights. :)

That case is cool. (No pun intended.) Can you over-clock a Mac?
zackepceo

You can on most, but it involves at least changing jumper blocks and at most microsoldering.

okay, it is the kid in me.... I discovered the http://www.atruereview.com/jefi/index.php jefi today (no comment on the name). The company says since it is an external aquarium cooler you can do "all kinds of fun things".... they suggest fake fish and lighting... just think... fake fish lasers shining through the water in time to the music... disco mirror on the bottom reflecting the laser lights....
a nice mood waterfall.... In fact, mod the aquarium into a larger aquarium with a waterfall to help cool the water coming off the CPU. :D

That's weird, looks like it takes up too much room. Just put your PC in a freezer. :)

That is what this: http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews/cooling/Asetek_VapoChill_LS_1.html
baby is for.... It does not come with a neon disco light show, but it will allow you near 50% overclocking.
In the middle of the unit is the black Danfoss compressor charged with refrigerant R507

Sadly, I can not overclock my PC. :( My VCore flucuates too much, I think it's my mobo.
I would be afraid to install that, let alone move it around. For $820, ye might as well buy a faster PC.
My G5 is water cooled. :)

I don't overclock, but I am considering getting an arctic cooler 64 freezer in order to keep the temperatures in a range for longer stability. The reason your G5 is water cooled is for stability. They could build an air cooled like the PC, but the water cooler is more efficient and more stable.

I loove phase cooling. I would like a circular case that was cooled by phase cooled flourinert flowing through the whole thing. IO would be a little ackward at first, but it would make everything a lot more stable and cool.

I would like my PC cases to work like my Macs, so that when they were to goto sleep, their fans would also power down. :)
I've been running overclocked @ XP3200, but my PC reset during a game. It hasn't done it for a long time and never during rerndering, so I figured it was fine. But my friend pointed out my vcore flucuations and said that wasn't good. It flucuates at XP2500 speeds also, so it must be the board. The PS is a True Power.

phase cooling is expensive though.... Some other methods are coming out, and they are many and varied. Some are older larger technologies that are coming back with the advent of nano technologies. I can't find the nano stirling article...
Stirling Cycle Cryogenics: http://www.procooling.com/articles/html/stirling_cycle_cooling_-_the_f.php
and then there are a few new ones: http://gtresearchnews.gatech.edu/newsrelease/synjets.htm
and http://www.nanocoolers.com/product_lines.php?line_id=2
we'll see what catches on. :)

you can, but it requires an extra temperature controlled fan controller. :)
