Hi,

I just bought a Proporta USB Cable for my Clie NX70V and I can't run an hotsync on any PC.
I tried on 3 different PCs running Windows XP SP2, NT4 and 2K and on USB2 or USB1 ports and the result is the same...

When I click on the hotsync button on the Clie nothing happens; just like the clie wasn't plugged to the PC!
I dont' think it's a cable problem because I have already changed it and it seems that the battery Clie is well charging...

When I plug the Clie on the sony cradle I have no problem on the same PC and USB port, either using the hotsync button on the cradle or the hotsync button on the Clie.

If anyone can help me it will be great because I'm just getting crazy
I did found any answer on internet about this.

Thanks in advance for your help

Is the USB cable plugged into a USB hub? I've had troubles with some unpowered hubs.

No the USB Cable is directly plugged on a motherboard USB port.
I've even tried on a USB2 port from a PCI card wtih the same result.

It's possible that the cable is bad.

I have found a problem with my hotsync setup that you may want to be aware of.

I bought a non-Sony hotsyc cradle that flickered the screen when my Clie was in the cradle. I would occasionally have hotsync problems where I had to use a backup to recover, and when I tried installing my hotsync on a new PC, it wouldn't recognise the interrupt to hotsync. I got a new Sony cradle with charger after a few weeks of frustration, and all my problems went away. After checking the cradle specs, I notice that that the non-Sony was 5.0 volts at 1 amp; where as the Sony was 5.2 volts at 2 amps. Granted I have added both MS and CF cards, so the non-Sony cradle probably didn't have enough juice. YMMV
