Description:

New registration codes: Icon Manager 1.2 now uses registration codes so that betas and bug fixes can be made publicly available and still allow registered users access to the full set of features. If you are already a registered user then you should receive your registration key by Monday 3/24/2003. If you haven't received it by then, please contact the author with your registration details, as there were probably e-mail delivery failures with your e-mail address.

v1.2 (build 5123) March 23, 2003

Highlights - see enclosed Readme.htm for complete details:

The new Paste special... menu command pops up a screen where you can paste & replace selected icons with icons from the clipboard, or paste & insert icons from the clipboard inserting them in front of the selected icon.
The popup menu when you drag an icon includes two convenient new commands, Copy & insert and Copy & replace.
The color picker now supports the full 16-bit range of colors when editing 16-bit color icons.
There is a new "view select" button in the upper right corner of the screen. Tap it to cycle through the available views: 13 rows (DateBk5), 8 columns (HandyShopper and Agendus), and the Details view (showing all available images for each icon).
The clipboard commands are available for quick access from the new clipboard button in the lower right corner of the icon list screen.
The Cut and Copy clipboard commands now add icons to the clipboard (instead of clearing the clipboard first, like it used to). To clear the clipboard, use the Show/clear clipboard... command from the Misc menu, or tap the clipboard button in the lower right corner of the screen and select the Clear clipboard command from the popup menu.
Various bug fixes (see enclosed Readme.htm for details).
Sony OS 4.x devices have a hardware bug that causes them to crash if they try to draw low resolution 16-bit icons that are compressed or have transparent backgrounds. Your friendly neighborhood Icon Manager sports a new Sonyize... command that analyzes an icon set and modifies it if necessary to ensure it won't cause lockups on Sony OS 4.x devices.

Converting images to 16-bit (already using 100% hi-res) caused Agendus to crash my PDA (fatal alert / hard reset)! I even tried to "Sonyize" them and same results! :(

What do you mean my "Sonyize" them?

"Sonyize" - that's new command in IconManager. Read the post carefully.

The 'Sonyize' command in Icon Manager modifies an icon set to avoid the lockups. To Sonyize an icon set, tap the dropdown arrow next to an icon set and select the 'Sonyize . . . ' command."

Quoted from the program's "Tip" screen.

I wasted hours because before converting to 16-bit I had rearranged and renumbered my icons. There is a nice warning that rearranging will change the icon number (which Agendus and Datebk display based upon). So I rearranged my icons into my own categories (sequenced in the group). I then went back into Agendus and "re-iconed" hundreds of appts and to-dos. Then I "Sonyized" and 16-bit converted my set. When I launched Agendus . . . fatal alert - crash! After reboot, I "Sonyized" again and got the same crash.

Hours down the drain. Luckily all I had to do was restore my Backup Buddy backup from the MS, re-sync with Outlook and I was back where I was three hours earlier! :(

Warning! The program comes pre-set with "convert to 16-bit" and "compress" when you edit an icon. I have turned those off pending some guidance / developer intervention.

Guess when it comes to truth and reality it must be censored.

FYI - My brave unregistered friend, this is in no way a political stance. This is simply what is and has happened, all factually documented. Only truth:) Can't handle it? Can't even go under their registered name. What a pansy:)

FYI, I dont have a registered name here, but I still read here alot.

And YES your pics was indeed a political stance. From the 9/11 attack you show a plane crashing into a building, and from Iraq the picture of a kids smashed head.

If you claim to be objective you should have had an equally horrific picture from the 9/11 attack. Like a image of someone who jumped off the building lying on the street, or someone burning up.

And on the subject of that picture not belonging here: I found it disgusting - even if it now is the truth - and I dont expect to see such images when I surf on a pda web site.

I am sure that you are going to tell me that you dont find anything disgusting as long as it is the truth? Well, how would you like if I put up an image in my signature of something you find disgusting, whatever that may be - kiddieporn or whatever. You would like to see that on a pda site? No? Really?? How come? After all, it is the truth?

Get my point little Tixxie?

Second go-around was a success . . . I think! :) I did a backup prior to beginning just in case. I did not attempt to rearrange / renumber the icons as I don't want to take the time yet to re-icon all my appts / to-dos. I also did not use compression. Not sure what the advantage is on a relatively small db (icons db) of compression?

First I "Sonyized" my "icons-IAMBIC" icons file and test launched Agendus. No problem. Then from the "Conversions" drop-down menu I checked "Convert to best image format." Next I double-tapped an icon to edit it and closed it (automatically saving it as 16-bit), launched Agendus and again, no problem. I then proceeded to do a few more 16-bit conversions, doing more each time between tests of launching Agendus. I completed the conversion of my 230 icons and have not experienced any problems. The only thing I haven't done is "Compression," as I travel today and don't want to take any more chances. As a comment, I'm not sure my eyes can detect the difference in 16-bit color on this size icon. I haven't noticed a difference I can get excited about!

My "icons-IAMBIC" file is 251K. I'm not sure I would fool with compression even if I could gain 100K of precious RAM back, as I'm running at a comfortable "headroom" of 3.5M of RAM now. I need about 2.5M to temporarily load my three local area maps from MS to RAM when I use Mapopolis.

So what's cool about the new version? The ability to renumber and rearrange your icon collection. You can put all like-subject icons together, if you think it will make your life easier! :D

God bless,
John

Wow, your into kiddie porn. That is sick. Move the rest of this discussion of your addiction to kiddie porn to the off topic if you don't mind as this is the IconManager thread.
Thanks.

You are such a loser. Is that all you can say when you realise that you have lost an argument? After all, that just proves you were wrong.

Your arguments get better and better...

Tell me, why did you get rid of that picture if you think it is OK to have such a pic in your signature...

Ok, children, would you care to take your political discussions and banter to another forum? This thread is supposed to be about IconManager 1.2 -- details about which I'm trying to find while having to sift through your crap.

So, please, can we just get back to the matter at hand here? Thank you.

Thanks for restating my previous post:) Got anything to say about IconManager? I thought that is why you were in this thread:confused:

Well So far I like the different views provided in the application and have had nothing go wrong with it to date. I wonder if db+ is going to start supporting HiRes and if Dbk5 will support more than 255 icons in its database.

wellsjs: How large was your Icons-IAMBIC file before you converted the icons over to 16-bit? My current Icons-DATEBK5 file has 75 icons and only takes up about 30K, and a collection I'm working on has 121 icons and is only 40K...

Re: number of icons

Hopefully he won't mind my sharing, but this is from CESD's latest message on the Yahoo group...

"There will always be a limit, but I plan to up it to 1024 fairly soon. It requires a change in the Tagged note field, and this is something that I do not change during maintenance releases."
