well, besides the fact that this is months old, you can ditch your thoughts about 32mb of RAM. What Garmin doesn't advertise is that 16mb is for applications and 16mb is for map data... in actuality, you only have close to 15mb. Whether Garmin follows the Sony or Palm T|T side is unclear, but if they go Sony expect only 11mb free.

That's old news too. You won't have more than 16MB of RAM until Palm OS 5.2 devices come out.

Isn't the Garmin going to be a OS 5.2 device? I thought I read that. I know that 16 mb is just for the maps, but I was still curious.

The Garmin is also 0.8" thick -- thicker than an NR70V.

In addition, by the time that it is released (May), the next NX will have been announced. I predict that the next clamshell CLIE will be far more compelling than the Garmin.

It's a nice device, but we all know that 'the device everyone's been wanting' is the svelte, sexy T-series with a hi-res+ screen. If the Garmin were acceptable, then I'm betting people could live with an NX with the screen flipped over, too.

I only read that it was OS 5, not 5.2.

Oh well, I guess that I was wrong. 5.2 will be out soon enough!

Even the Samsung one that was mentioned is outdated by the next model, the SGH-i500

Yeah, but even if the GPS one has hires+. I doubt if it'll be able to use Sony's API, and palm doesn't have a hires+ api as far as I know. Which means it'll have to use its own. And any program that wants to use it will have to update their software.

If I were to have to wait in line, then I would add: TV tuner + Triband GSM phone + and able to make good cappucino :D :D

If not cappucino, at LEAST a good, DRY martini!
