battery life on ipod mini

Apple web site says 18 hours (except when it says 8hrs). I have a 6Gb mini. Is this estimate realistic in the real world? Any experiences gratefully received....

I only get about 6 or something on my iPod, so I have no clue about the newer ones. :)

ipodlounge reported up to 23 hours of battey life on the new Minis. Apple's battery times are conservative after the less than stellar battery life of the otherwise perfect 3rd generation.

I was told by the Apple peeps that the only difference between the 3G and 4G, is how the internal firmware manages the battery life. So why doesn't Apple offer some kind of firmware update for our 3Gs?

Noo, the 4G iPod has the same internals as the iPod Mini. It uses a different processor than the 3G iPod.

It has been my experience that a lot of Apple techs don't actually know much about how their products work.

I should've known, since this is the same store that didn't even know the DP 2.5s were released when I called about availability last year.

Lately I've been calling the Costa Mesa store, which was one of the earlier ones and they seem to have a clue.

That article hit on it ecactly, "confusion and misinformation." Apple does have 92% of the market share currently, so there are going to be some nay sayers. I definately haven't been charging my iPod as required. I usually leave it plugged in all the time.

And to ramble off subject:
If Sony hadn't provided me with misinformation about MP3 playback on my Clié, I would've never had anything to gripe about. :)
