how about start with a list of intended uses and match the notebooks to what you intend to do, or get help matching them? When asked advice for computer purchases I always ask intended use.

Is weight more important? is size? is apparant processor speed? Is this for word processing for school/business? is for games? Ray tracing using Maya?

these 3 are about the same category .. same type .. crappy vdo card .. mobile cpu ..

i don't know much about Mobile AMD Sempron™ 2800+ Processor ..

is it good .. compare with intel centrino 1.6 ghz and 1.5 ghz ?

there is one sony laptop on sale also at compusa .. p4 3.2ghz but .. the battery life is going to be so ugly .. 30 mins - 1 hr ..

It is comparitable perhaps a little faster. It is 1.8Ghz, but AMD have always been classified faster than their Ghz rating, which is why the 2800+ nomenclature. AMD rates the name such that it can be compared to an Intel Desktop. Thus my 3200+ is comparitable with a desktop Intel 3.2ghz processor. Since we have 3.2ghz processors at work, I can say my computer at home runs very close to, sometimes higher, sometimes lower than the Intel, overall the rating is good, it compares nicely to the Intel.

I do not own a Semperon notebook, I can't afford a notebook myself (okay, well, I wanted a camera more this year), so all I have is Intel notebooks at work. We have a combination of Centrino and desktop chips in notebook form. We even have one sony vaio with lousy graphics I won't touch. :) That is why I asked what you needed it for. You don't want my opinion on graphics, because it is my business and livelihood, it is very important to me.

If you are asking is the AMD as good? I would not hazard a guess otherwise. I have had a number of desktop AMD chips without any compatibility problems. In fact the shortcuts that help the Centrino get a 15% gain over its Ghz rating are very similar to AMD chips. Which is why it is no surprise that Intel took their hybrid 32/64bit design circuit for circuit from AMD. AMD has been very strong in technology lately and it is Intel that has been trying to keep up, and keep people from knowing.

Don't go for a desktop chip unless you really REALLY want the speed. If your goal is mobile game playing and other absolutely the highest performing mobile platform, then yeah, I have one at work, and so have others. They are great for that reason only.

I like the sony t series, I dont know if they still display it but I think thay cary it, I do know that they sell it. to me it is the same as the fs but smaller screen. It has dvd burner and as you requested ieee 1394 jack I love it 2200 thouhg, although I think if you have an old laptop, sony will give you 400 for it.
