Hi there,

Anyone got any idea when or whether the TG50 will be capable of working as a GPS receiver? Any info/ideas will be useful.

cheers,

While it seems not to be listed on Sony's English site, the Japanese site (http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer/PEG/Acc/PEGA-MSG1/) shows that the Mem-stick GPS module PEGA-MSG1 is compatible with the TG-50... however it is not clear if this will work with the English language version, or if drivers are available to make it compatible.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use this Bluetooth GPS reciever:

However, you should talk to the company to confirm it is compatible.

I've heard that there are no maps for GPS Memory Stick besides Japan and no way to add new ones.

For some devices, I've heard that a null serial cable and a specific Garmin made GPS device might work but I can't recall the exact details or model numbers. I do know that The Supply Net (www.thesupplynet.com) sells the necessary cable. I'd say search the forums for GPS to see what you can find. I've thought about setting up GPS, but with my current job there is no need to have GPS.
