Calling all NX73’ers, PEG-CC5 and SmartST users…

I searched for threads for peoples experiences on NX73's, and the PEG-CC5 car cradle, and users of SmartST, and there’s only one mildly related post out the in 1src land.

There must be more NX73’ers out there using the CC5 with SmartST? Might be useful to share experiences such as:


Did you have any compatibility problems? Agendus seems to be a popular one mentioned in other threads.
How much handheld RAM have you got free to get SmartST to run?
What bits of the CC5 & SmartST software can run in RAM, and from MemoryStick/CF?
Has anyone got the SmartST Service Packs 1 or 2 to work, as linked to by clie-link?
How have you mounted the CC5 cradle – any mods made to get around that nasty vent clippy thing?
Slim chance, but has anyone found any other software that uses the “Text-to-speech” jobby?
Is it possible for us UK users (and other’s in Europe?) to “enable” the FM transmitter for playing MP3’s, like our colleagues in the USA? Now that would be nice, if not probably illegal!

So many questions, so little time…please post your experiences and share with us all.

Hi,

im using the UK-Version of the CarCradle with SmartST both ón the TH55 and since a month also on the NX73.

I can not report any compatibility problems with my current applications (Agendus I never used).

To run Smart ST in the CarCradle on my NX I need a minimum of 6.3 MB of RAM. I tried to put the CC5-Software or parts of it into Flash with JackFlash or on the MS with PowerRun, but no chance - Fatal exeption errors all the time. If you put SmartST in Flash or on MS, you can run the program while out of the cradle, but in the cradle, the CC5-Software doesn't find it anymore. I found a workaround using McPhling (hint found in a thread somewhere here in the forum) so I was able to put SmartST on the MS and start it with the PDA in the Cradle using the Favorite function of McPhling mapped to button #1. By this way I can now also use most (not tested all) of my other application with the NX in the cradle.

The Service packs I have installed both via Navman.

The Cradle is mounted at the ventbut I'm also searching for a better solution (but no way at the windscreen)!

In Germany where I Live, the FM-transmitter is illegal. But I think it is not even built in for the UK version?

I hope this could help a little bit. I'm in a hurry, so perhaps I come back later...
