The title says it all. I'm having so many problems with my clie now but I can't give it up. There just is no other pda on the market that I know of that does everything the clie does.
Does anyone know where I can get a new one online for a decent price.
I'm thinking around &300.00 for a new ux40?

You can probaly find one on eBay for that much... I got my UX-50 off of there recently for just over $300...

I agree, EBay is probably your best bet. I bought a backup UX50 for less than $200. WiFi didn't work, but a folded piece of paper between the cover and WiFi chip fixed that. It's not mint, but it works great. Just remember to look at the feedback ratings.

I queried 'UX-50 FOR SALE' on Google and HERE (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-27,GGLD:en&q=ux%2D50+for+sale) are the results.

Good luck!!

Check the classifieds here. Someone was offering a UX40 for $250/obo here a few days ago. Don't know if he still has it or not.

I got a UX40 for $310 a couple weeks ago. I was in the same boat as you mine was wearing out and couldn't live without it.

If you do go the EBay route, review the seller's other items as well.

Here is an example of listings I would avoid at all cost.

Something's fishy here? (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZconsumergoods4u)

Notice that the seller just joined EBay, has a zero feedback, and is listing the same item multiple times. This may be legitimate but many crooked sellers do a quick hit and run. Again, this may be a legitimate seller, but I doubt it.

Well, the seller has no feedback which is a big NO NO! Stay away from those at all costs! Or if feedback is private

Thanks for all the help.
I ended up getting a brand new ux40 from Animationbz.com for $357.88.
I wanted a new one rather than a used or refurb one. The one I have now is a factory refurb so I figured I would have better luck with a new one.

very fishy, the seller doesn't even mention what condition the item it is in.

it also seems like the seller uses the same picture for every auction.

Yep, that's where I got my UX40 from as well. Came brand new but with a loud whining screen.

Hey ask the seller some questions and let's see his response. :)

Here is what I found at Amazon.com:

What does OEM stands for? Is it a brand new unit or a refurbished one?

OEM means original equiptment manufacturer. And despite the meaning it really means something which is rebranded. Ex. Dell dvd burners are not actually made by Dell, they are made by Sony, then sold to Dell, then Dell (who is now the OEM) sells them under their name. So even though OEM means "original equiptment manufacturer" the OEM is never the company who originally manufactured the product, they are just the rebrander. And to make a long story short, in the case of that amazon ad "OEM" has nothing to do with anything since Sony Clies are never rebranded. The seller just thinks that OEM means refurbished.

Thanks for that swift response. So basically, OEM is a brand new product and not a refurbished item. Then why not just say Brand New rather than OEM? What is the difference when they say it is Brand New and OEM?

Sorry if I ask too many questions. :o

Thats the problem...In all actuallity the term OEM shouldn't be used to describe new or used. OEM just means rebranded, whether it is new or used. The amazon seller which used OEM to mean used clearly doesn't know what OEM means. The amazon seller seems to be saying that it is new in box unit which has never been refurbished/remanufactured.

OEM = original equiptment manufacturer (used to describe the company that sells it, has nothing to do with quality of new/old)
refurbished/rebranded = product returned to manufacture to be repaired. Technicly a refurb can be called new, because it has been rebuilt and tested to meet new product standards.

Your questions are no problem, they keep me busy at my boring work.
