I got winhand working, and I like it very much. I was using it and there is like a 7 second lag from when you press something to when it actually opens on the Clie. I little lag is alright, but this is a lot.
Is there a way to reduce the lag????
Besides that it works pretty well.
Can anyone with a linksys router please assist me in port forwarding. mashoutposse told me I needed to do port forwarding to 2 ports, and I don't know how to do this.
This is going to be for wireless hotsync from places outside of my network. Can anyone help ?

Hmm. Its going a little quicker now.
Does anyone know if it supports hi res +? It wont let me collapse the virtual grafitti area, so I am hoping there is just a setting.

Be sure you have the latest firmware installed first. You can do port forwarding with static or dynamic IP's. You should understand the advantages of using static IP's, I won't cover that though here. Go to the Set up screen, then Advanced tab and click Forwarding... in customized apps tab add two descriptions dor lines 1 and 2. Like 'VNC'. Next to the first line enter '5900 ~ 5900', check 'TCP', add the IP address of the compuer runninh the VNC server, then check 'Enable'. In the next line enter '5800 ~ 5800', check 'TCP', and add the IP address of the computer running the server. To access this remotely, enter your WAN address into the VNC client software on the remote machine, or into a web browser and your in.

It's HiRes only.

hello all, may I interject and ask a question related to this topic?
I use the free version of win-hand on my clie, and am so pleased with the idea of the software but very dissapointed with the performance of this particular software. it's not the lag, it's the unreliability of the connection that bothers me. I have the sony wireless card and a netgear wireless card for my computer, and when I connect to my computer, I am stable for all of about 30 seconds, and then very consistently, the connection drops. I am certainly not out of coverage (only about 30 feet away), my battery is fully charged, and I don't understand why it chooses to consitently drop my connection. Any Ideas or suggestions or tips from veteran users? or perhaps an alternative to this software.... I REALLy (and I must stress REALLY) like this idea, but the unreliabilty is beyond bothersome. please help. thanks in advance. :)

Make sure you have powersaveon unchecked under network-wireless-advanced-options.

ironically, yes. gosh, are you going to tell me that the powersave option is REALLY no more than a show item? everyone everywhere swears off the power save feature. *sigh* :( my battery gets sucked dry when powersave is on. I can't imagine what it will be off. BTW is that the problem? (grrrr stupid powersave....:p )

It's a misnomer actually, it slows down the connection speeds and can also break up the connection itself. Basically is serves no useful purpose other than to aggravate you... :)
BTW, this is a common problem.

I have found no unreliability. I emailed them, and he said in version 3.3 they are planning for Hi-Res + support, and he said to increase the screen refresh rate set it to 16 colors instead of 256 colors. That is a good idea.

It saves power by preventing you from using your WiFi card. Ingenious, is it not? :)
