I did a few searches, but I didn't find a good answer.

I have both a Clie NX73 and an Ipod.

For space considerations, I would like to convert my Sound Recorder Files to any format (CBR/VBR) MP3 to play on either device. I remember trying command-line LAME last year, but it didn't work then. Can anyone recommend a software solution that will recognize the Sound Recorder Format and do the conversion to MP3.

Thanks,
Eugene

Audacity will do this (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) freeware & will act as a gui for LAME.

Cdex (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net) also freeware would probally do it as well.

Thanks for the help. Audacity nicely did the conversion using LAME. I will have to play with a bit more next week to reduce the bitrate since the file sizes are still quite large.

the good thing about it is that the 8 bit rate sound usually still sounds quite clear at the 24kbps in any MP3 Converter, like the free version of Music Match 10, or the comercial ware of sony's Sound Forge.

but first you need to have some updates for the clie, because for the low WAV bit rate files are not recognized by any computer, until you download the update.

so i would suggest doing that first.

God Bless :p
