Hey guys I just bought a 2nd hand th55 and the 128 mb sony memory stick(purple in colour) doesnt give me enought space.

I see a lot of brands of memory stick available in the market..

Whats the difference between

1. MS and MS pro
2. the different colours of MS (i saw blue/purple/black/white)
3 sizes (i see 2 kinds; the long and thin kind, and the shorter and fatter kind)

Are all of them suitable to be used for th55, especially point number 3?

I'm don't really know the technical details, but the shorter ones are MS Pro Duos (they look like SD cards). They work with the TH55, so no worries there. I recently got myself a 1GB Sandisk MS Duo Pro (blue) for my 55.

All of them work! Haven't seen shorter and fatter one though. I thought the MS Duo is shorter and thinner. The longer older version is fatter. That's why an adapter is needed to make MS Duo longer and fatter so it will fit in TH55.

I haven seen any 1 gb or more MS in singapore... and I'm afraid to be ripped off when i get from ebay?..

does anyone know the prices of 1gb and 2 gb MS

1 more thing, I'm sure there are 2 kinds of MS, the normal and the fatter kind. I'm quite sure that the fatter one cant fit into the slot of th55.

I remember seeing some 1GB sticks in Changi Airport when I stopped for transit last time. But that's in the International Terminal :p

About the price, I bought my 1GB Duo for about USD170. And there's no 'fatter' MS sticks, unless you refer to Duo vs Pro :D

found that at amazon.com.. doesnt it look fatter? or shorter..

You wouldnt get this kind of memory card unless you use another device that uses the smaller MS Duos, what i suggest that you buy is this:1 GB Memory Stick Pro (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=MSX1GS&Dept=audio&CategoryName=pa_MemoryStickMedia_MemoryStickPROmedia)

Dont buy the high Speed one, as it will not do high speed transfers on the TH55, or any other PDA.

It's shorter than the Pro (that's the duo in the picture). And it's actually slimmer. I guess pictures do make things look fatter.

Hey guys, I'm currently looking for a 1 gb memory stick for my th55 but it doesnt sell at my place (I stay in singapore)..

Is anyone selling a 2nd hand 1 gb MS?

Or is anyone willing to help to get one then shipped it over? I'll pay for everything..

Or anyone think that I should get it from ebay? Is it cheaper?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I have a TH55 and have used both a Lexar 128MB and a Sandisk 512MB MS. The Sandisk is Duo type ( the smaller format that fits into a the carrier.)

The 128MB shows 128MB available when used in the TH55. It fits into the unit very nicely. It is easy to remove it.

The 512MB shows about 475MB, going from memory: ), as being available, before any data is loaded. The carrier fits very tightly into the TH55 and can only be removed using tweezers. I think the lost memory space is reserved by the card to allow storing copy protected music files.

If I had it to do again I would not buy the duo type.

Hopes this helps, regards,

Anthony

That is what I'm afraid of. When the short and thin MS (Duo) slips onto a sledge adapter to form the size of the long and thick MS (regular or Pro), there is always a chance that the adapter being not perfectly fit. Any gap in the fitting makes the overall MS Duo + adapter size to be thicker than that of the regular MS.

I have a sandisk ms/pro 512mb and i only have 468mb free space with no files on it. So the duo has more storage (7mb) , but sadly it is double the price than a non duo in germany :( .
By the way i can play mpegs from my ms, that have a bitrate with over 2,5 mb/s and i have the cheapst sandisk ms/pro 512mb .
I can only say that i recomend to buy a sandisk ms becouse i read once that erlier sandisk made all ms for sony :) so they are the same but only cost half of a sony one.

Hey Guys,

Does this stick work, I wouldn't see why not, but I found it for cheap on Ecost!

Thanks!

Why not? Beware of the "handling fee" of ecost though.

Strange, I've had no problems with my Sandisk 1GB duo. It fits nicely, just like my 512mb Sandisk MS pro. I got the duo because I might get the p910 once the price drops.

Didn't the black MS's have some kind of compatibility issue with the 55...?

Wolfgard

Yep, I remember reading about compatibility issues with the block MS pros too. I think it has something to do with the number of mp3 files loaded into the sticks or something like that...
