For $433 (8.25% included) The screen
should be perfect no "six bubbles"
at the lower part of the screen(shadow,
waves etc. ) will take it back to the store and settle for SJ22. In fact, I will buy two SJ22 and donate the other one.

Sony could have hide tose "bubbles" by introducing "task bar" and shrinking those five ugly buttons!! (Buttons for games? forget it!!)

wow, a little specific about things huh? My NX has those, so did my NR and some other ones. I really don't think that it is that big of a deal. I don't even notice them unless i stare at the damn thing for more than 30 sec...

on my wife's TG50, the toolbar on LauncherX hides those shadows nicely.  i suspect most 3rd party launchers would do the same, as they are only noticeable against a white background. overall she is thrilled with the TG. worth every penny.

I like honesty. I remember when the NX first came out, new NX owners were saying that those bubbles had been eliminated and their screens were perfect. I think it was their excitement speaking.

I use Yishow, so my background image camoflauges the shadows.

The NX LCD is better than the NR (and the TG50). The shadow waves are much less noticeable on the NX. The screen on NZ90 is perfect :)

Here is the order of the clie PDA in term of screen quality (mostly regarding the shadow waves thing)

TG50 < NR < NX < NZ

P.S. I used NR and NX before and saw the NZ and TG50. It is a shame that Sony decide to save some money and use inferior screen on the new TG50 while they can use the perfect screen as those on the NZ90 (for the record, I wouldn't mind pay $50 more for a perfect screen).

Perfect until SONY ships it's 18 bit screen, which will then be replaced by OLED. =P

OLED, drooooool.

Same here, I would pay more for a better screen. This is the reason I bought SONY in the first place.

Size of the LCD and price is acceptable.

I will be more happy if the screen is as good or better as the NZ SERIES or TG665C MODEL.

Shadows? Oh, those things. I can live with them.

They don't look like shadows. It looks like light being shone inwards from little spots on the bottom of the screen with shadows in between. I thought they were horribly distracting with apps like datebook, worse with hi res stuff like I have such as action names/agendus.

My NX-60 ;has none of those problems, maybe its because the NX was not new when I got it:)

From Brighthand,

"The display on the TG50 is decent but the one I have has a flaw that I suspect will be on most of the ones sold.

It's a 320 by 320 pixel display which is quickly becoming the norm for Palm OS devices in all but the entry-level. This high-resolution screen leads to crisp, easy to read text and good-looking images.

Its a transflective LCD, which is a compromise between two other types. It looks very good indoors and pretty good outdoors, though not great.

Now for the downside. The flaw is one that has appeared on LCDs from Sony in the past; The backlight leaves wavy shadows on one edge of the screen. These are quite noticeable when background is white, which unhappily is most of the time. (Take a look.)
